New Octavia VRS order; what to go for?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm close to ordering a new Octavia on a contract hire/lease, so thought I'd get some feedback/suggestions if possible.

As it's a lease I'm reluctant to add many options as I'll essentially have to pay for them over the two years.

I'm looking at a TSI DSG Hatch, and at the moment I'm thinking rallye green with the grey trim interior.

The blue looks great, but I want something a bit different. The green definitely fits the bill!

The only option I've chosen so far is the Smart Link as that looks like a pretty useful feature.

There are other cheaper options that I've considered (tinted windows, colour display along with a few others), but I don't think any of those are strictly necessary.

So, starting with the standard VRS spec, which options are recommended?

Also, given I'm likely to go with the rallye green, which interior choice would you suggest?

Depends how long you want to wait, approx 12 weeks for a build, but ask what's in stock.

Not sure whether I need/want the 19s, but I probably do need the black pack!

Yeah 12 weeks was what I was told. There wasn't a huge amount in stock when we looked yesterday (the ones that were in stock were fully specced, so a fair chunk more ££).

What part of the smartlink appeals to you?

The satnav on screen / android auto

Agreed, PCH/lease you'll do best to keep the spec basic.

If you are UK based worth noting that from week 45 build (I believe) the vRS will come with Amundsen nav as standard.

Personally......i think id probably go either Corrida Red or Candy White to save having to foot the cost of metallic, for the sake of looks perhaps consider the black pack as they do look nice with the black mirrors and grille.

Standard spec on the car is good anyway.

Not sure if you are dead set on a TSI DSG but you might find a TDI manual cheaper still. The 184 TDI is a gem, perhaps not outrightly quite as fast but v v punchy and mates v well with the manual...which has one of the nicest shift actions I have experienced in a manual car for some years.

Might not be for you fair do's but would suggest not overlooking it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah I had seen mention of the Amundsen being included, so that's good. (I think the base price increased from 1 Nov to compensate somewhat).

Presumably I still need to spec smart link to get the android integration?

I thought the dealer mentioned the metallic paint was now free (or the online quote I had said that, and the dealer matched the price), so I think I'm still siding with the green.

As you say, the cheapest option is the manual diesel, but I'm a petrol man and given the relatively low miles I'll be doing I can justify the worse economy.

I also fancy an automatic, and the TSI is suposed to be very good with the DSG (only driven a diesel dsg so far).

Assuming the met paint is included I think I'll go for the black pack and smartlink and leave the rest standard.

Other than sat nav purposes that is theonly reason I went for smartlink, but as mentioned above amundsen is now standard

Stick to green you won't regret it,I've got the estate. black pack, standard alloys give a comfy ride, grey cloth, sunset glass is a must for estate, or if you carry items that are in view in the back, not too dark for night time.

Thanks

I've had my Vrs 18 months so don't know current spec. But Vrs probably still doesn't have mud flaps as they say the standard ones don't fit. On the vrs estate at least the standard ones do. They are just sightly nearer the ground due to lower ride height. But never had a problem. Most kerbs are OK unless you reverse right upto them. They stop road dirt from spoiling the paint work

The auto dimming/folding door mirrors, I wasn't sure but now I've got them I wouldn't be without them (great on unlit motorways).

My VRS is Race blue, but I have to agree the Race green does look good, especially with the black pack.

Also the mud flaps, despite what the dealers say they fit fine and there's loads of genuine sets for sale on flea-bay.

Race blue beautiful! ! The one to have

+1

I love the red stitching in mine.

Colour wise mines white and with the black pack it looks great. I will shortly be proving it can be very shiny and easy to keep clean with an application of Zymol Concours.

I've ended up going for:

TSI

DSG

Hatchback

Rallye Green

Silver stitch cloth

Black design pack

Any other options I end up having to pay for over the two years, so although some of the options suggested above sound good I couldn't really justify them.

Hopefully the factory is quiet at this time of year, otherwise it's looking like early Feb delivery with Xmas shutdown etc.
