VCDS lite Service reset

Featured Replies

hi guys,

Tried searching and cant find anything, all I find is the VCDS SRi reset which isn't in lite.

I know you need to go into the instrument cluster but I cant remember which units need changing or resetting.

does anyone know where it says?

cheers

billy

To reset the service light press the brake pedal down and hold the trip reset and turn the ignition on.

That's not what I asked but thanks.

Using vcds you can change the interval hence why I want to know again. I've forgotten and can't find where it said it.

Ive seen this, but forgotten myself.. i would like to know the answer also :) to extend it.

1998 and 2008 (for 2009+ you will need to use the SRI Reset button):

[select]

[17 - Instruments]

[Adaptation - 10]

Enter channel 02

[Read]

The "Stored Value" is the current value for that channel.

Enter the "New" value of 0 (zero)

[Test]

[save]

Note: It is normal for the display to show something like "--/--" instead of an actual distance/time to service after resetting until you have driven some distance.

Taken from the Ross tech page for an Audi B5 but Ive just done it and its the same.

If you want to change the miles at which it comes on go to block 5.

If you want to change the Time based service its block 7

To Reset the service indicator  "OIL" and the spanner

Run VCDS Lite

I have a cheap ebay cable off Ebay and a registered copy of VCDS Lite that I swapped over with them from the old VAG Com days.

Plug the Cable into the OBD port behind the Cubby with the "ON" power boost light speed button.(Lower Dash Right side of the steering column)

Open it then give it a sharp tug down

Turn Ignition to Position 1

In VCDS Lite Go to "SELECT CONTROL MODULES"

hit select, top Left box

Select "INSTRUMENTS" 17

Then Select "ADAPTION" 10

Go to CHANNEL 02

it should read it, if you have the OIL warning it should say 1

Select New Value "0"

Test

Save

it will ask you to confirm, click "YES"

Job done that will reset the service. These cars don't have Variable service so they should be set to 10000 miles.  If you want to change the service reminder to a longer or shorter stretch:

Go to CHANNEL 05

Select the miles you want to be reminded on

Test

Save

Yes

Also you can select the time. These are fixed service cars so 10k miles or 12 months. you can adjust the months also:

Go to CHANNEL 07

Select months till next reminder

Test

Save

Yes

Job done  This has worked for me and Ill see how long it is till it comes back on.

If you feel brave there is loads of other things there. just make sure if playing around you mark what they were before.

Thank you, that actually really handy. I was  going to put a huge mileage just to stop it coming on. But after seeing this i will be setting it to 6k to remind me to oil change.
