Two small bits of advice

Featured Replies

Two unrelated tips :)

1) Don't blindly follow TomTom instructions if you choose "shortest route". It might send you down farm tracks axle deep in mud that are *slightly* too narrow to drive down without scratching your car

2) When was the last time you did a proper computer backup? If you're the smug type who has done one recently, :P, have you checked that's it's actually readable? This especially applies if you use tapes :)

I hope this helps someone

I've learnt number 1 the hard way - Even "quickest" is sometimes really bad down here as it assumes you can do 60mph down all the narrow lanes around my way. Motta is, stick to main roads/Dualies/Mways wherever possible and ignore its shortcuts unless you sort of know the road its taking you down.

2) eh? :D Might transfer any data from this PC to my laptop and vice versa. :)

TomTom has taken me down some 'interesting  ' routes, but it has always guided me safely to my destination.

Why does anyone bother with tapes, I mean backing up to strips of rust?!?

They still have their uses. Hopefully holographic disks will obviate that though.
