Front parking sensors (OEM)

Featured Replies

Morning all,

Looking to have front parking sensors installed on my 2013 Rapid Spaceback. Have spoken to a couple of main dealers but have been advised that front sensors not available for my vehicle..

Any thoughts or first hand experience?

I'm sure that i could go the aftermarket, non-OEM route, but not keen to do this whilst car still in its warranty period.

Thanks

Front Parking sensors are fitted to my MY16 Toledo.

I assume they only became available with the tech lift that added front assist and other MQB tech.

I certainly never saw front sensors available as an option before then.

I've had this done on mine so I can share what I found.

Some dealers can do it, but all they do is get someone else to put an aftermarket kit on. My local dealers (Reading and Newbury) wanted £350 for the front and the same for the rear.

I also enquired into other people fitting OEM (flush fit) sensors, including the interface to display on the radio and lower the radio as you approach an object. It's not cheap, the cheapest I found was around £800 for both front and rears.

In the end I went for an aftermarket OEM kit fitted, which works fine.

many thanks for all replies.

whoop_whoop, do you mind me asking where you sourced the OEM kit and approx price?

Did you get them fitted at an independent?

Thanks

I didn't get OEM in the end because of the price, I found a guy who sells and fits parking sensors and he put a Meta set on the rears which is really nice, it has an OEM-sounding beep rather than a tinny Casio watch-sounding beep. The fronts are something else but they're not working correctly at the moment.

I'll get some pics up soon once the weather picks up and I clean the car :)
