Featured Replies

£150 for a Bell, that's epic :)

Some good prices there, almost a shame I don't need a new lid!

we dont need to know about helmet polishing though..:D

I don't know how you can buy a helmet on mail order.  All that buggering about returning it if it doesn't fit would do my head in.  Excuse the pun.

As "fit" is the most important aspect of helmet purchase, online purchase is a real risk unless you manage to size it first through a local bike shop.

That is my thoughts Kev.  I struggle like anything to get a helmet to fit right.  I cannot get any of the top makes to fit for some reason as they all feel uncomfortable.  I did have an Arai when I was on a plain bike in the job and wore it for hours on end and it never was comfortable.  Same with Shoei and others so I ended up with a cheapy that fitted like a glove (Caberg) and OK it isn't the best helmet in the world (thankfully Striple isn't about to have the argument again) but it serves it's purpose.

Strangely enough Chris, I am off to a dealer on Monday to try a Caberg. Owned one before and it was a good fit too.

If you're an XL in Cabergs I've got a flip front Justissimo for sale

Thanks Brimma but too big for my peanut.

Is this genuine ?

What the thread or the offer?

Just ordered a new Caberg from this site at a great price after sizing up at a dealership. The dealer was no where near on price sadly, otherwise I would have ordered it from there.

Back on topic...............I tried loads of helmets on yesterday before settling on the one I wanted. Fit and comfort are so important. It is surprising how different they all felt, even two similar helmets from the same manufacturer. As we all have unique head shapes, the fact is that purchasing a helmet means visiting a dealer and trying them on. I drove 80 miles to try the helmets but it was worth the time and effort.

For anyone in Lincolnshire, the Sportsbikeshop at Boston has a large selection of clothing and helmets which can be tried for size, and reasonable prices

That's a good website for window shopping :-)

I paid £100 for a Bell star 2 in 1980 over a weeks wages !

Thanks for the link!

Good link Bryan I had forgotten about them.  They are close enough for me to go and try stuff but I see they do free returns on helmets anyway.

That's where I got my Shark

It takes some finding, but well worth it
