vRS gone into limp mode

Featured Replies

I hope one of those Service Managers at Skoda UK Customer Services are reading this.

Maybe others will post the Test Results they had that resulted in them getting a replacement engine and the variations between how the

'Official Test is done'.

This one in the Link was a Pass and 'No Oil Issue',  but look close at it, there was only 78grams of oil used,

only problem being the Technician never new the weight of a litre of Oil, and he followed the Cheat Test Report format.

You can get the results you want, but to get them while messing up a simple test is par for the course.

Just like with the Spark Plugs and failures.  VW were too busy making excuses rather than spending any time

on investigating Fundamental Design, Manufacturing and Quality Control Issue from their products.

Stopped going into Limp mode?

Yeah it's all good they replaced the spark plugs as the one on cylinder 3 was cooked the cars as good as ever [emoji1303]

Funny that, mine was Cyl. 3 also.

Funny that, mine was Cyl. 3 also.

Snap! Mine was 1&3, changed to the Denso spark plugs, used tesco momentum and not had any problems since.

Found #1 was a b***h to get to :( took a bit of fiddling but got it in the end.

Just had mine replaced on a service. Last time it was cylinder 1. This time cylinder 3. Cars the best it's been in a while.

Actually asked the chap to save the plugs for me to look at and no.3 plug was completely burnt out.

any way of cleaning spark plugs up?

The best way to get the plugs clean is take the car for a run, let the oil get hot, then give it some spirited driving and once parked and cooled down the plugs when removed will look nicely clean. The issue is when you have an oil user and sooting up plugs and oil on cylinder 3 plug and you cook it, that is the plug that fails. Buy good plugs, check the gap and a thrashing a day keeps the misfires away. If you have a failing plug replace it.

any way of cleaning spark plugs up?

Going back many years, the advice then was to clean with a brass wire brush to remove the carbon deposits. That was in the days when Champion & Lodge were supremos.

Does that advice not hold good today, & if so why?

How can still clean a plug carefully any way you choose. Some people do not understand carefully though. When I was an apprentice we had a Champion spark plug cleaner that gave them a sand blasting.
