Yes the standard ones are good but when towing they fade a bit after a steep downhiller.

as i found out in scotland.

standard will do just checking to see if there is anything "more suitable" out there

ferodo OEM spec, not ferodo DSC2500's.

Oh right. Thought you would want something higher spec than that given your "driving style" :p

They are higher spec, I used to use Lucas pads (

One of the penalties of 4WD I suppose - your rear pads wear out too. What have you got on the front, and where do you go to get given a choice of pads?

Not sure who makes the OEM pads...Pagid??

Generally you can get the same spec pads, made by the same manufactuer for less than you pay at the dealer.

Remember getting some Pagids for my ZX TD Volcane...

I can't see it being a penalty of 4wd at all, however I can imagine it's a penalty of ESP.

I run DSC2500 upfront, but might go slightly less aggressive next time. I go wherevers cheapest at the time.

(although I want to go slightly *less* aggressive, I have gained a set of DSC3000's - so they may go on the front next time)

(ah another ZX volcane ex-owner! I used black diamond drilled discs and mintex fast road pads, were a big improvement over the standard setup on my 1.9i (precat) volcane, I also found a big improvement running an open spoke design 16" wheel instead of those "almost solid" 14" wheels that it had as standard!)

So where d'ya buy em? You mentioned Halfords - was that the source of the latest set?

2500's were bought cheap off someone who had them as spares but decided to move up to 3000's.

3000's were exchanged for a standard pair of fronts - don't ask!

Hadn't started on the "slippery slope" back then....mine was just a bogo Volcane TD......introduced me into the diesel world.

Really good performance and still got 40+mpg.

I meant the standard ones but you obviously went to someone who gave you a choice of manufacturer ....

DS2500 from Impreziv

Ah sorry, standard pads were bought from halfords.

ZX was first "quick" car for me, went from a 1.0 SJ to the ZX - did end up a bit muppety, had an induction kit, piper cam and splitfire plugs, 16"s (seemed big then) and a fair weight of subs! No baseball cap tho! :D

zxsubs1.txt

Nice looking boot install Ian...bet the amp that powered those subs was pretty decent! :D

Rob.

The vertical one in the middle - Phillips DAP640 - 2x220watts to the infinty kappa's you see there behind the letters Z and X - was lovely.

Tavia4x4, try the Mintex 1155s, not a bad pad and reasonably friendly. DS3000s are not in the least bit friendly (to either the wheels or the ears).
