2.0 tdi socut probelm

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have experienced some problems with my 2.0tdi scout. Engine type is cfhc.

Car has been purchased in the end of september with about 175000km on the colock.

After next 1000 km it suddendly died  on driving off in junction and was not possible to restart.

Engine crank over, but had just little sings of starting, but some times started but died immediatelly after.

Using some odb tester MAF fault has been found and erased, but no success.

Car has been taken to authorised dealer where it has been diagnosed as egr fault.

So egr has been replaced and car was driveable again for next two days when egr fault caused engine check to iluminate again.

This time by use of standard odbII tester fault has been diagnosed as p0403  -exhaust gas rreccirc. control circuitrange/ref.

Fault has been cleared and the engine check has gone.

A week ago car again hestinated during the drive, but this time glow plug light start blinking.

After shut down and restart the problem dissapeared.

This time system has been tested with vagcom 14 and following report has been generated

4807 - EGR System

P0401 00 [096] - Insufficient Flow

Intermittent - Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

Freeze Frame:

Now the car is back to dealer and being diagnosed. Unfortunately they claim errors can not be erased. Actually after erase same error appears again.

They suspecting the wiring, ecu, or any other thing ...

Any how error last two times appeared in right turn.....

So getting a bit mad over their unability to resolve the problem.

Any advices over the problem?

Many thanks.

Have a nice day.

Kind regards,

Marko

What about disabling EGR at all - basically it's programming your car's computer to don't use EGR at any circumstances.

I guess that in such case there should be problems because EGR is NEVER working.

It should be cheaper than replacing EGR. You will probably find some guys that can do it on internet ads.

I'm very happy about this solution. This spring there were problems with EGR and I disabled it. I'm living happily since then.

The only thing that's weird - why did the car die that time? Should it really be EGR?

Hi,

Thanks for fast resonse.

Ok, Will check this out.

Been looking at some forums about this solution.

Any how egr is brand new now already fited for a month .... after all if they fit it it shoud work if they are authorised dealer/service...

Theexplanation about reason for car to die was that the egr has been blocked and it remained in open state if i am not wrong. Means completely incorrect flow trough it. And therefore incorrect parameters completly also and that made condition of not running - starting.

Kind regards,

marko

EGR is completely useless thing. It's one of the eco-hippies style thing that makes everything complex and expensive. You don't benefit from that at all. The only 1 possible benefit is heating the engine faster than without it but anyway it's only one one against many disadvantages. Get rid of it and live happy!

It's sad that you managed to fit a new one. It must have been rather expensive...
