Reversing sensors staying on

Featured Replies

Anyone else found the reversing sensor display can stay on for quite a few seconds when driving forward after a reverse?

It's a bit frustrating, as it can be long enough that you're moving forward and the sensors are shouting at you (I don't have front ones before anyone says it).

It's going to get a trip up the dealer, but thought I'd ask if it's just poor design or a problem.

Never had this on the MK2 or the A3 before.

Does the display go off as your doors lock by any chance?

I have a Mk3 Octavia with rear sensors only....certainly the PDC only comes on and displays on the screen when its in reverse. The minute it comes out of reverse the screen disappears. This is on an older (early 2014) MIB1 car though.

I have a GTD with MIB2 and front/rear sensors. The PDC display on that tends to stay on until you are travelling around 5/6mph...basically goes off when the anti-hijack locks the doors. The front sensors on mine automatically activate when you get close to something at the front below a certain speed bringing up a mini PDC display but goes if you drive above the speed threshold again with no sensor activity or if you press the front sensor button.

Sounds to me as though you car might be exhibiting the behaviour of a front/rear sensor equipped car but with only rear sensors?

This is meant to happen, think it was a change for MY15, wish mine did it as it's a reall useful feature.

Yep - as Neily03 says - it's standard now.

( there is a thread on here somewhere about this ) - but essentially -

it's in case you are close to something and, if the proximity should become more hazardous after you deselect reverse.

( e.g. rolling back into something, or the something is a "moving something").

Stays on until you reach something like 10kph or so for the reason given by Dithane.

Noticed it first time I reversed my new Octy. On my 2013 4x4 estate the screen changed as soon as it was taken out of reverse. Soon get used to it I suppose.

It's there for when you are maneuvering and going from reverse to first and back again ie... a 3 point turn. The system stays active until it's sure you don't need reverse anymore, makes it quicker and more useful as it doesn't have to reboot and miss a little reverse move.
