New Yeti arrives tomorrow! :)

Yay! My 150tdi L&K in Jungle Green arrives tomorrow...

Oddly I'm a bit gutted.

As a lease car it has to come from a dealer elsewhere in the country and I've been informed it's being driven to me. That means that:

1. I won't be able to run it in "properly" as with the school of thought that you get around 20 miles to drive it "hard", or rather up and down the rev full rev range when warmed up to bed in all the piston rings properly, giving better power and economy for the life of the car (plenty of info on this via Google and backed up by engineer friends of mine).

2. It doesn't feel like I'm the first owner - by all accounts I'm pretty sure the dealer is "up north" but Jet (lease company) won't tell me who, I just have a recollection of them having a few they use up there, meaning that it'll probably be a bit mucky by the time it's covered 100+ miles, it could have been driven however the driver feels, for all I know slamming through pot-holes all day, fiddled with settings etc.etc.

Minor stuff I really but it's definitely taken the sheen off of having a "new" car. I'm not even sure how easy it'll be to check over for all the minor marks as it'll probably be raining pretty heavily when it arrives. Hopefully these are just worries that will rapidly fade away when it arrives. Does anyone else have experience of their new car being delivered like this and how it turned up?

My 150 l&k is leased via Jet finance. It was delivered to me via a "mature" driver who genuinely didn't seem the type to abuse it. He told me the car came from down by Banbury/Oxford as there a big vw/audi/seat/skoda distribution centre there. I'm south Midlands so the car had only got 60 odd miles on it when arrived. If your lease is via Jet too I think you'll find they're just the brokers, the actual lease company is Arval

Jimrod - that seems to have turned up quickly. When did you order?

When mine finally arrives, I'll have to get myself up to Preston to collect :(

Anyway, congrats and I hope it arrives safely tomorrow!

I ordered at the start of September from memory (possibly late August!), thanks for that! I'd almost prefer to pick it up myself but having just come back from a week off work the logistics would probably be tricky. :\ That's quite a trek from Devizes, when's yours looking to be arriving?

If you know the reg number you can determine the registration office and from there the potential supplying dealer

Interesting, thanks for the link! - it's a HN plate so possibly coming from the South coast, unless it's already gone from there up to Oxford as Devo said, maybe that's why Jet don't seem to know! I've asked for the driver to call first with an ETA so I'll probably find out in the morning...

It'll depend upon which dealer Jet Finance are using - they will have a number of different ones they use depending on manufacturer; orders placed with other dealers etc.

My lease company use a nominated dealer in London but if they are at capacity with orders/build slots they switch to one in Oxfordshire area - our cars therefore come with mainly London registrations (e.g. LR, LN etc) or Oxfordshire (OU, OV).

Hi Jim,

I wouldn't worry you know it's a lease car so you won't be keeping it I presume?

Why worry.

Well it'll still be my car for two years, it'll also have to go back in near-perfect condition. I'm not sure what difference it makes if I lease it or buy it outright in terms of ownership? It's not a throwaway item just because it's not technically "mine" I'd still rather the car be as good as it can be and I'm still paying for it! :) I rarely own cars I've bought outright for more than 2-3 years anyway.

HN is Portsmouth. So will be one of the Sparshatts dealerships, Havant most likely.

Of course that's where it's been registered from, not necessarily where it's being driven to you from!

https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ will also give you the registration date, if you don't have that already. To work out if it's had a few days to move around a bit :)

Many thanks! :)

You're welcome - get some photos up when it arrives

Great choice of colour as well, I must say :)

Sparshatts Fareham were one of (if not the) most competitive when I was getting quotes for a Mk3 Fabia on a PCP, so it could well be them.

Unconfirmed build for mine is week 52, but I've read elsewhere on the forum that the factory has a two week Christmas shut down, so I doubt I'll see it before the end of January. Order was placed at the beginning of October.

I doubt very much it will be Sparshatt's at Havant because that is their used car lot - I  live about a mile from it and unfortunately they don't even do routine servicing for Skoda there so for my first (and so far only) service I had to trek over to Botley.

Sparshatts have premises at Botley and Fareham (mine came from Fareham with the HV prefix) and there is also Azur Skoda in Chichester and Worthing. But wherever it comes from - enjoy!

Was simply basing that on the nearest dealer to Portsmouth. Nothing more scientific :)

We just bought a new Superb via coast2coast - as standard they do a driven delivery, but I paid extra to have it trailered as I wanted it to be as new as possible when we got it!

Had 6 miles on the clock, instead of probably 100+.

Well I've had the call, it's on the way from Aldershot so will have about 100 miles on the clock by the time it arrives. Hmm. :\ Driver wasn't interested in me asking him to drive it a little harder, he wouldn't let me get a word in edgeways and "knows it all", has to be driven gently etc... I guess it should turn up in one piece at least then!

I suspect he has delivered many cars. You cannot tar all drivers with the bad driver brush. I had a very good friend who, when retired, did some car delivery work and he was one of the most careful guys I know.

He'd have a reputation to protect you'd think.

Well it's here, I haven't had time to fully check it over apart from external bodywork but seems ok, a bit dirty and I had to drive the driver to a bus stop! It came via Garland's dealership who have kindly plastered their stickers all over it but the car itself seems all as it should be, I'll have a proper play at lunch! :D

Good to hear

Enjoy! :)

Piccies, or it didn't happen!  :D:envy:

And some things which have annoyed me a bit for my new car, am I asking too much that it be in perfect condition?? :p

Scratch where key goes in:

Where TF is my torch/light? Why was it even taken out? Garage have said they'll order me one...

Lots of this white gunk dotted around the black trim where the garage monkeys couldn't wait to get their stickers in the windows:

So overall I'm mostly happy, I have my new car, but the edge has been taken off by niggling things and it already having 100 miles on the clock (as well as being fairly dirty due to that), I'll feel happier tomorrow no doubt. It's also my first day back in the office after a week in Mexico so I'm on a downer anyway. :D

Ummm, also - what is this rear view mirror? No sensors or switch for self-dimming, has a light sensor on the back still but not even the tab for manual dimming. It seems the wrong shape for the rear view window, my friend's brand new L&K has the standard VW mirror with buttons etc...

Any ideas?

...... a bit dirty....

Oh dear. If you wanted a car that was going to stay clean for more than ten minutes I fear you are going to be disappointed. I spent Sunday afternoon cleaning mine and I've barely done 20 miles since and it looks like It's not been touched for months!

I wasn't sure about the Jungle Green but the more I see of it the more it grows on me. Annoying about the niggles but hopefully not taking to much shine off the new arrival.
