Citigo Passenger Rear Window Breaking/Shattering - Is this a design fault?

Featured Replies

Hi

I have been a Skoda owner for 22 years and have never had a car with the push out window that the Citigo has.

We have now had three rear passenger windows break and shatter on our Citigo.  The last time was when the rear passenger door was opened.

Autoglass have checked and have said that there was no problem with the bolts/screws fixing the window into place.  The Autoglass guy also told my daughter that he had fitted new winsows where they had shattered when driving over a speed hump.

I am begining to wonder if there is a design fault or if other Citigo owners have had a similar problem?

First I've heard of that. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with the push out windows, they have been used in cars for decades.

That type of window is under way less stress than a normal bonded side window, not heard of that one before.

News to me too...

Unless its being slammed closed and opened with a lot of force i cant see why t should ever be a problem?

As I've said already, are you sure autoglass just didn't use cheap windows? Try a different glass company and keep receipts and records if it is a defect in the car so you can have evidence of how many windows have been replaced
