Estate roof rail width

Featured Replies

Looking at roof bars for my estate I have two sets of standard clamping style aero bars, both are quite short though and the superb is pretty wide. I need to order some ready for getting the car on Friday. can anyone with an estate measure the gap between roof rails for me?

Just remembered this thread, as I collected my car today I can help.

Just measured in the dark so please allow a bit of error margin. Distance between inner edges of roof rails is 990 mm approx.

I hope that helps.

Brilliant, many thanks for that.

Which bars Did you go for in the end? I have been looking at the options this weekend.

Thinking the Thule aero are maybe a good option.... But then I'm thinking what's point of going for the aero bars when I will have a giant roof box on it !!

This is the set I'm going to use with a Thule Excellence XT box too. Same ones on the X6 fit the S3 by chance. Good thing the S3 Combi is long!!

Thanks for the reply. the bars do look fair sleek to the roof of the car which is good

I see you also have the black rails too.

I've been eyeing up these ones because I have ordered a sun roof and low fitting roof bars would get in the way:

Need to double check that length will be enough. May need to order the next length up:

Looked at these as well but decided to save the hundred quid and get the cheap maypole ones. Obviously don't look as nice but they do the job fine.

Are you sure these fit the Superb III. They look like the type for the Superb II to me.

I think you are right. Need to email Roof Box Co. and get them to add S3 model on. According to Atera.de who do list the new superb estate I need model number 048 522

Yes exactly, will need to email them to see if they can get Atera bars or failing that just buy them when I am in Germany :)
