Featured Replies

My coil light and engine warning light came on traveling yesterday green flag came out said particle filter build up took part out tried to clean a bit then put back on said go to garage. Phoned local garage won't look at it said go skoda garage might cost £2000 help can I drive it what to do?

Welcome to the forum.

Best ask in the Fabia section. Someone with experience of the same issue should be able to help.

So someone at the garage is just talking rubbish on cost, but things can be expensive if you let them take the mick,

but they can be scary when they tell you things like £2,000.

?

How old is your car and how many miles covered?

Was it the EGR that the RAC Cleaned?

Where are you?

There's plenty of places offering the dpf clean, similar to the setup edd China promotes.

Since last post I have taken the EGR at front of car off cleaned and pipe next to it covered in black soot

It's still running in a mode that won't let me go above 2000 rev coil light still on and engine light tried to get second hand EGR valvue

But problem with courier still not received tried skoda they want to charge £300 for part just want to know if worth paying for skoda part in case not EGR valvue and turns out to be diesel particule filter. Live in Argyll remote area any suggestions?

Moved to Fabia 2 section for more exposure.

Do NOT go to Skoda just to get ripped off.

Firstly; what model Fabia do you have? T*/Monte Carlo/RS?

Secondly; can you get a photo?

Thirdly; Where abouts are you based?

Would be good if you found a local member to you that has VAGCOM/VCDS

He has a 1.6 TDI CR

& is in the Argyll area of Scotland.

Any joy with this? I'm having same issue, same vehicle

My Fabias egr valve is made by piedmont or something similar, with added vw logos and is exactly the same as sold via euro car parts or car parts for less. They sell it for much less so if you are happy its the correct part and you can replace it yourself, you will then need to get the code cleared from limp mode.

DPF is a different animal. It might just need a forced region, (£180, main dealer) removal and software deletion (Naughty but works) or replacement. That is the expensive option. BTW, the removal of dpf must still keep the box, removing the innards, to look intact as current mot's have visual inspection. Not necessarily future-proof though.

Thanks for comments on EGR I got one from 01 parts got fitted all sorted or was until yesterday when my gear box went started with a rattle then went bang now got to get reconditioned get box more money is this just bad luck is it worth keeping or cutting losses it's only an11 plate ?

I would say bad luck. What makes a gearbox fail? Made poorly, used poorly. If the previous owner did the damage, unless they knackered everything, the replacement gearbox won't be affected by their driving habits. Likewise if it was a duff one. The recon is gonna be warrantied, I would wager! Even then, you'll need the replacement just to sell. keep it until the warranty expires to get some use out of it, then px!
