Remap insurance issue

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've just had a chat with Admiral who say that they can't insure remapped cars due to the potential safety issues but that they can insure chipped cars! Have any of you guys who have had remaps come across this? I'm not sure why it would be considered riskier than having a new ECU installed but that's what I was told.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this issue?

I think some Admiral customers have just said they were chipped.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this issue?

Ring them again and ask to speak directly to their underwriters :D AFAIK, all they care about is the final output figure of the car as the net effect of remapping/chipping is practically the same thing anyway :D

Thanks for the replies folks. With regard to anyone who has Revo or any other OBDII port remap surely this means that technically you're not insured?
