Rear brake light not working........ Help!

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I'm hoping you can shed some light on my problem. Problem being my rear fog light does not work. I've changed bulbs, checked fuse and all seems fine. I've even swapped bulb clusters and still no luck. Please, please, please can you help??????

Thanks in advance,

Mike.

Does anyone know how to edit the topic to say fog light and not brake light?????

Sorry I can't think of how to change an open topic title, but, your rear foglight, does the indicator come on when you switch the light on?  Ideally you need a voltmeter to find out if the feed is live at the rear of the car, if not that might mean a duff light switch, a sniff around with a voltmeter would certainly help you work it out.

Yes the light on the dash comes on when I switch on the rear fog light. I will see if I can get a voltmeter on it.

Many thanks for your help.

Wrong bulb type fitted is always a candidate; check what you have in there versus what's listed in this handy-dandy thread.

Yes, make sure it's the correct bulb. They are 566 bulbs and have offset pins. The bulb works as both tail and fog light on the driver's side but only uses the tail filament on the passenger side.

Voltmeter revealed a break in the wire. All repaired and working now thanks to an engineer who happened to be repairing our laser machine!

Thanks again for your help.

Mike.
