  • Do not like the ST's engine since they dropped the 5 cylinder and went to a 4 pot :( The Ford build quality, especially the feel of plastics and shutting doors, is just not upto VAG cars IMO. Fiesta

  • I might have to take mine bk to Santa pod to see if I can improve on my 0-60 time!

But what do you have to do to the vrs for stage 2 and isn't that putting stress on already a highly tuned engine

Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk

Upgrade Intercooler, Air Intake, Ignition Coils, Sport Cat, and what ever you feel like.

Have you tried driving a Stage 1 CAVE vRS, or a CTHE with a tuning box to see what the 205-210 hp feels like?

For stage 1, which is by far the best upgrade on any car out there, you only need a remap basically. Hardware upgrades are welcome but not necessary. That's where the big surprise comes.

Stage 2, is where you really start spending and the gains are not great, but it's nice if you want to get that extra 10-15 hp on a more usable rev range and still be on a "safe" level. And you also have to bear a less "polite" and noisier car in general (some like it).

Both s1 and s2 are within factory tolerances, meaning that the engine and gearbox can handle them fine without upgrading any internals. By the time you've gone stage 2, you will have gained a great lot of real-world performance, certainly more than the 40-50 bhp increase suggests. Beyond that it only makes sense if you're building a project car for heavy drag or track use (or just looking for an expensive hobby to spend your money on) as not only the cost goes up exponentially, but the practicality and everyday use (at least for most sensible people out there) will go down in the same fashion...

So in word: No. You're not approaching any critical limit that you should worry about if you want to get significantly improved performance. Provided that you have good car to begin with of-course. A bad twin-charger will fail even as stock and from what we've seen just as badly. Good ones on the other hand, can make 300-400bhp without problems.

?

Really,

a VW Factory build engine / head with all standard OEM parts and good for 300-400 bhp without problem?

I reckon my 0-60 time is 5.5secs, but thats unofficial using a GPS timer - might even be faster - who knows.

Sure beats the ass off my daughters Focus ST - in a straight line anyway.

I said: "Good ones on the other hand, can make 300-400bhp without problems" and you added the "with all standard OEM parts?" part!

I didn't say stock internals will suffice for 300+ bhp. Even on a hybrid  (270-300bhp) I would uprate the rods and pistons like other people have. Then BT applications (300+) definitely need them from what I know. But once in, yeah, the cars run fine without issues if that was the question.

Wouldn't mind doing a few track days but is it not risky with the temps these engines run at and I think it's a good engine uses a little about 200ml every 800 mile so not too bad

They do not run at a Temperature that is an issue with the Correct fuel, good Oil, Filter & Spark Plugs.

A member here is running one in Australia on the Track and at Hillclimbs without issue at Ambient Temperatures you are not going to be seeing in the UK.

They are not made of chocolate.

So, theres twinchargers running up to 400bhp? Out of a 1.4? Wow.

Are these examples in Seats or Audis then? Not heard of a fabia running that?

vRSy ran his to Stage 3 before it needed new pistons.

I knew that newbie69 never meant a good standard component engine was OK to 300-400hp but he meant

a good 'Rebuilt' one with upgraded internals, then just keep spending .

Which means as long as you start with a good Block you are at a starting point.

Started with a Fabia, ended up with a Focus!

Maybe best to start with a Mk5-6 Golf R32 / R and tune that, it costs much less.

You can even have DSG if you want.

I do **** loads of track days , and I'm now up to 52,000 miles, and mine is fine. oil temp  at 130C :P

Yeap, up to 550 whp (600+ bhp) from a 1.4 twincharger actually, but this is a Cupra for 1/4 mile runs rather than an everyday car.

"Everyday" cars I've seen around 350 with BT, one of them is actually a Fabia, owner visits Briskoda from time to time. Think he is currently running in his DSG kevlar disk.

That's the thread: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/257543-nacoras-skoda-fabia-14-tsi-snow-white/page-2

It's not updated for quite some time, last dyno posted is from back when his was ~320 bhp, must be over 350 after his turbo ugpgrade....

come to Chesterfield when mine is back from the bodyshop and I will take you out in mine. It's a total different car, don't get me wrong it's cost me but I love it and I like to tell people it's only a 1.4 when I've had a play with them ;)

  cheers mate

i would like to do this again really enjoyed last years and then stopping over for the curry.

Anyway abit of topic now, don't change it bolt some bits on to it and go from there.

Santa Pod 2016 'Skoda Fabia  Mk2 vRS 2nd Annual RWB meet'.      'Skoda vRS Mk2 Fabia not required.'

*Is it time for a pinned thread up top?*

Already a couple of members that did the work last year on making the meet a success have offered to be involved in the 2016 meets organisation.

Thank you.

One of them that has had a vRS hatch and has now a vRS Estate is getting one of these next week,

so its going to great to hear how he enjoys it.

This is the Cooper S, not the JCW's. and the Polo GTI 1.8TSI is just not as quick or quicker than a Polo GTI Twincharger

no mater how VW choose to give the performance figures for the 192ps / 320 Nm Manual car.

(1.8TSI 192ps DSG version 250 Nm.)

*Testers should know about cars, the 1.4TSI Twincharger fitted fine in the Polo GTI. and the battery was in the boot with it as well, to improve handling, balance & ride really.* (& so that 25kg weights were on the vRS and a spare wheel so that it was not a VED Class lower than the Polo, A1 or vRS Estate.*
