Used Octy 3

Featured Replies

Morning,

Are there any specific things / known gotchas i should be looking for on a 14 plate, 2 litre diesel dsg Octy elegance?

I've previously owned a Yeti and i'm quite familiar with them but i've not looked at the Octy stable before but this one has caught my eye.

Any specific pointers on things to check for would be greatly appreciated.

cheers,

-

Richard

Nothing major but check the b pillar seatbelt adjusters are not showing wear. If so get sorted before taking it away.

Get a service/warranty report on the car before committing - check it isn't a returned car/lemon that's possibly got a fault that can't be fixed as there are a few out there..

Make sure you drive it before buying.

There are lots of users who complain about a "booming" sound from the rear of the car.

this can be really bad in some cases & there doesnt seem to be a clear concensus on the cause or a fix from Skoda.

Its a Skoda so expect a few  rattles from the interior. A & B-pillar, air vents & behind the speedo seem common ones.

If you are very sensitive to these, get them looked at before collection.

Apart from that the O3 seems to be a pretty solid car.

Theres no real major things failing at the moment from the forum, just a few minor niggles.

Thanks for the swift and helpful replies.

I fully intend to drive before i buy and knowing what things to look out for is helpful.

Does mean a bit of a journey but i'm happy to travel for the right vehicle.

Check for corrosion on the wheel centre caps, signs of premature wear on the seats, make sure the navigation SD card is there - and the ice scraper!

Probably to your advantage anyway buying used but do be aware they depreciate badly so I would genuinely try to pay as little as you have to for the right car.

Certainly do not just automatically pay the sticker price.

Is the seat belt thing not more of a minor irritation cosmetically ? Far bigger fish to fry than that when looking at a car.
