Alternator excessive ripple ?

Featured Replies

Today I was trying to wire in a pure highway 300di using the main dealer bought power harness to my columbus and had the doors open and radio on and off testing a fair bit. When I tried to start the car the battery was flat and had to use jump leads to start....halfords say the battery is OK but the alternator has excessive ripple, does this mean i need a new alternator and any idea how much it might cost (ball park figure)

Any advice very very welcome

You can get voltage regulators , new diodes  etc Bosch  alternators,  if the rest of the alternator is sound and not too old it would be a cheap repair

I bought one of the net last year it was cheap compared to an alternator. (Bosch =£10-15) look them up on the net.

If my memory is working right, Durabrite, think that's the name or very similar. They make lots of parts for alternators.

There's a Durite who make automotive electrical stuff - is that who you mean. I've only heard of them in relation to relays and switches etc

EDIT: Google seems to suggest they do make alternators
