VW Sales drop 20%

Featured Replies

Heard on the news yesterday that VW's sales have dropped 20% since the "defeat device" scandal despite new car sales increasing be 4%.

Be interesting to see in the coming months what, if any, affect it has on VW group cars residual value.

It will be even more interesting to see the RRP's and what you have to pay to buy a New Car, a Factory Build, or even a Approved Used Car at a Main Dealership.

Finance Deals.   and what Used 3 Year old cars in Warranty sell for at auction.

VW Group supply lots of New Vehicles to Motability Finance the largest Fleet Buyer in the UK,

but changes to Motability Finance which is not connected to the Government other than customers are required to receive HR DLA Mobility / PIP Mobility Component.

Many less Mobility cars will be on the road as peoples leases end and they no longer qualify.

Vauxhall supply many Motability Vehicles and this makes a Difference in the First Quarters of new Registrations in the UK.

Nissan Leaf are available now at Nil Deposit on the Motability Scheme,

but then so are Skoda Models, Citigo, Fabia, Rapids & Octavias.

.................

Maybe Skoda, VW Dealers and Seat, Audi etc would be First Registering more vehicles in November / December

if there was not the Euro 5 Cars that Sales had to be stopped on because of the NoX issue,

and now the Real Problem the Co2 / MPG Irregularities & VED Bands.

Is there a IT Centre issue, or a Getting the Co2 /VED band correct issue?

I'd be the dealers will be happy to point out any reduction in trade in value.

Not so happy to reduce anything you're buying.

Other VAG brands not so badly affected which just points out how uninformed most people are.

Is that 20% down for just UK sales or Worldwide?

It refers to the Golf still being the 4th best selling and refers you to the table,

which is the 11 months sales.

So how did the Golf Sell in November?

Sales, not first Registered, owned still by VW or VW UK ect.

Its smoke and mirrors often with manufactures, some will first Register 50 or 100 each Quarter of cars no longer even on sale to the public.

Its just their way.

Could be some nice pre-reg bargains to be had in the new year

Motability Finance did.

Near at full RRP,  and now leased for 3 years.

There will be some glut on the used car market in 2017/18

Have you not noticed how many there are with Blue Badges on the dash?

They have been keeping Vauxhall Dealerships alive in the UK for decades,

yet they claim to make little from helping supply your new vehicle from Motability.

Like some other Dealership.

Motability Purchases for the biggest Fleet Buyer in the UK is rather important.

Honest Co2 / MPG / VED rates are important, and VW has an ongoing issue with many Euro 6 /2015-16 vehicles.

About 600,000 customers at present, or so they say,

most with a vehicle, and these are mostly changed every 3 years but some more often,

and some keep longer and might buy the vehicle.

It is a very large spend by Motability Operations / Finance and keeps the New and Used car Business going.

Many changes coming with Benefits and assessments so less cars will be getting Bought , supplied & leased.

Motability Operations / Finance has just changed things, no more HP Loans,

and they have let those with outstanding loans off with paying anymore from the end December.

Some people with a Loan from Motability are to be let off from paying thousands of pounds.

Not a lot of context in that 'Car' article. Fails to mention sales figures from other marques, meaning a proper comparison can't be done.

Is that 20% down for just UK sales or Worldwide?

Here in Norway the sales havent drop much, if any at all. VW is still the most selling brand. But the sale of diesel powered cars is dropping.
