Origami Rims ?

Featured Replies

The original Origami 17" wheel rims fitted at the factory have a part number 05L0601025L8Z8. My Skoda dealer wants close to £280.

There is a Skoda accessory wheel rim, available elsewhere, part number 05L0071497L8Z8 at £182. This accessory was/is apparently manufactured by a third party for Skoda.

Has anyone on Briskoda purchased one and can tell me the difference in quality or the quality...is it as good.

Please no guessing from bystanders, just those that know the precise answer.

Skoda do not make wheels, so they are indeed made by a third party for Skoda.

Yes, sorry, let me clarify my post, the production fitted rims are not manufactured in the same factory/country as the accessory rims. This RIM topic over on the Octavia forum discusses Origami rims. Strangely both are considerd genuine Skoda rims.

I have spoken to my dealer and quoted both part numbers. Both appear on the system with the accessory rim being 'No longer available'...I wonder why.

I am seeking a spare rim onto which I want to put a repaired tyre. Thus enabling me to sell the unused boot spare kit I have in the garage.

The one on Ebay @ £182 looks fine if it is just getting used as a Spare and would only be on as a temporary measure.

Please then explain why from just viewing the picture.

Odd. It would be absolutely fine to use all of the time! It's a genuine 17" Skoda part....

There is also the Origami black option. I have used this German seller before and would recommend them. At around £125 delivered, it's a decent saving.

They only sell the black one, though I will ask.

Yes, that's why I only wanted replies from actual users/buyers.

I thought you wanted to have a debate as usual.

Type approved wheel in the correct size / spec, is the clue usually, and i do buy quite a lot of wheels.

I said about the temporary use because of 'the repaired tyre being fitted'.

Many will fit an odd tyre out of the 3 others,

or a pair on 1 axle and odds on the other, by wear, directional or what ever.

So in the long story if it matches when you get it, and with what ever tyre is on, the size matches the tyre on the other side of the car,]

you are on a winner,

a safe winner.

If you put the full part Number up it helps.

Yes, they only have that version in stock at present. Wondered if, as it's a spare, you would mind it being the black version

No, it's going on the car. The original rim has a brand new tyre fitted so I want to remove it from the car and fit a new rim fitted with the original, repaired, tyre. Otherwise I am going to be hit for removing, re-valving re-balancing tyres.

I see. Sounds like your best bet is the £182 option then.

My other suggestion would be to see if skodaparts.com can help. They don't seem to list an Origami at the moment, but they're helpful with queries.

Had a reply and they don't have all silver.

Ref full part numbers, the numbers quoted in my first post were understood by the dealer.

Nowhere here does it mention 'accessory'

But €240 inc delivery = £175

yes.

It shows also on the Škoda E-shop for around £112:

Dealer price quoted sounds a tad excessive. I've bought stuff from the E-shop through Superskoda for a small surcharge (they don't ship outside of Czech) - I appreciate that this is already available direct from SS. Lots of good stuff in the E-shop....

Thanks, but is that not where they buy them. I cannot see them buying one in from eshop for me and selling it cheaper than their £175.

Did you also check with skodaparts.com ?

Yes, they do not have the Origami.

I am holding back just to be 100% sure the old tyre has been repaired. My luck would be to buy a rim only to find the manufacturer would not repair the tyre.
