Left in UK for two months, Now loads of mold

Featured Replies

Hi,

I left my Octavia in the UK over the past two months while I transported another car to Estonia. My grandma noticed today that the interior was covered in mold. Upon trying to open the doors to check how bad it was, the battery has died and now the central locking wont unlock the door (Having to open at the boot because the main door lock is broken). Do you have any idea how I can get inside when I go back in a week and just how bad this mold will be for the car. The boot also wont open (although she doesn't know a lot about cars so its possibly just stuck)

It will just need a good wipe down and airing

I would recommend if leaving for a long time in the future, leave 3 or 4 socks full of silica cat litter in the car as this will reduce the moisture content somewhat.

The problem is opening it. Anyone got any ideas how I can get inside without smashing the window?

Have you got into the boot at all, then climb over the seats to get access to the bonnet pull. Once open, charge the battery and then unlock the car as usual.

Id be worried about just a wipedown also if it was covered in mold.  Cant be good for your health

Mines been sat for nearly a year and interiors fine,

Does your have a water leak causing it to get damp inside??

My previouss car went manky when parked up whle i was out of the country.

I used a 2% flash all purpose wash down of everything.. stripped seat upholstry off all the foam (cruel job ,many stab wounds..) and machine washed them all. Aired the car for about a week - windows fully open for 12hrs a day. It fine adter all that.

A bleach-free mould remover will work wonders.
