Osram Night Breaker Unlimited

Featured Replies

I put some of these in today. Some motorists have flashed me. I'm presuming they are too high, but they seem OK to me. There's no way of installing them incorrectly is there?!

I normally check by driving up to the garage door. You should be able to see if you have a problem if one is much higher etc!

Do they sit in three slots?

First time I replaced bulbs, I got them slightly wrong. They had slipped as I was putting the securing clip back round. This meant they were angled wrong, luckily the car was facing my garage door so spotted it immediately. Might be worth double checking.

Some motorists did flash me as well though.

They seem ok when viewing against a wall. A bit higher than normal, but thought that maybe cos they have a longer viewing distance.

Not sure what you mean by sitting in three slots. These are the halogen bulbs if that makes a difference?

three slots; usually there are thee tabs on a bulb to prevent incorrect fitment; it's easy fit them slightly misaligned. HTH

Much better explanation than men Lee; three tabs on the bulb.

I have the night beakers in the Astra and I have had people flash me too!!

I know they are fitted correctly and the level is totally fine :-/

Might just be cos they are a brighter bulb

are they flashing you when youre on a flat road?

i find if i do get flashed.. its when im going over the brow of a hill.. which obviously leaves the cut off of my beam above the eye level of the oncoming motorist. i ignore those flashes.. or flash em back

The claims are they are brighter, so maybe that's the case?

More flashes tonight. Yes they are bright and I have double checked and they are seated correctly.

Thoughts?

looks OK ?

That's what I thought. That pic is on a slight decline.

They look like hid's. That correct?

  • Author

Nope. Bog standard Halogen.

Must be because its so close to the wall lol

If they were hid's I was going to say its not possible to get them wrong as they are screwed in place.

If you are getting flashed a lot there must be an issue. Halogens arent that bright, so i'd suggest having them checked at an mot station. You might have knocked the allignment out when changing them

Have you installed the bulbs correctly. I put the dip beam in SWMBO Seat in the wrong way when one of hers blew and it failed the alignment on the MOT so check you've not got them in upside down

Of course, there may be nothing wrong with your lights, and they are installed correctly.

I get flashed a lot by other drivers, so I get the dealer to check them at every service, and I ask after the car has sailed through each of its 3 Mot's were there any issues/advisories for the lights, and each time I've been told they are perfectly fine. And yet I still get flashed.

Are you continually being flashed; several cars in a row, or by multiple vehicles over a short distance? If that is the case, I'd take your vehicle to a reputable garage to have them looked over.

If you are only receiving the odd flash every now and again, I'd ignore it.

It's only the odd flash. The MOT is due next month anyhow. I don't know how they can go in wrong as the 'squared' off bit can only go at the bottom. It's a strange one. While on the road, they certainly lighten up the road but not sure if that's down to the bulb.

If you haven't already done so, you could maybe try using the headlight height adjustment control to angle them down a bit to see if that makes any difference. But as noted above if it's just the odd flash perhaps it's just the angle of the cars as they approach each other that's the issue.

hi am looking for a set for mine. which ones exactly did you get & from where if you got a good deal on them. cheers

For H7's on ebay they are 13.55 delivered. Or at EuroCarParts they are 17.99.

I managed it, though I did have to change the bulb in the dark hence the question just in case you'd made the same mistake!

I got them from auto bulbs direct, but then found they were cheaper on Amazon! Grrr.

I followed someone today, and asked their thoughts. They said they were bright, almost xenon like, but they weren't blinded by them.

Surely if they are that bright will they not last as long? Just a thought? I dont know what the're general longetivity is like?

Who knows. They are good bulbs. I drive across country to work and with the dark early mornings and lights, they definitely make a difference.
