setting car to variable servicing without VCDS

Featured Replies

Chaps,

Trust there is not a way to set a car to variable servicing from fixed without VCDS or a trip to the dealers is there?

Dealer (who shall remain nameless) left the car on fixed servicing despite being asked 3 times by my wife to set to variable.

....on top of this they only vaccumed the front half of the car and also refused to adjust the handbrake unless we wanted to pay £50 labour....probably within their right to do so but a bit off if you ask me.

You'e correct; setting to variable servicing needs VCDS or a dealer.

Thanks Ken.....looks like the wife will be toddling back to the dealers tomorrow then :-)

My new SEL had a problem when it was delivered in that it was set to variable and showed the correct mileage to go (c. 18400 miles) but the time was showing 341 days when it should be nearer 730 days(2 years)

Went into the dealer and came back showing 65,000,000 miles and 65,000 days. Its been back twice  since and still not fixed but mileage is now correct on oil service but not inspection.

Its got to back for 2 days while they connect car to mother in czechland!!

After the last service mine was showing 18700 miles or 365 days to next oil change and 18700 miles or 730 days to next inspection. I don't think that's right but I'll do 18700 in less than a year so have left it - it may even be right as I don't understand the service schedule and there's no service book.

Only go to dealers whilst it's in warranty & still paying pcp, after that it'll be fixed at my trusted vw specialist.

Do you think VW finance will mind if I set my lease car to variable servicing?!

Not at all....mine was set to fixed as I got 3 x 10k servicing bundled in my finance deal....its just had its 30k service at less than two years old.....its switched to variable now im having to pay for it.....car does so few miles now it wont need a service before it gets handed back to VWFS/traded in!

Personally I'd ask the finance company. They may say you have broken the terms of the lease if you change to variable service interval as you "signed up" for the car on fixed service interval.

Only got the car for 2 years. I guess the fixed services are cheaper.

VW finance normally insist on fixed servicing.
