Mould on car seat

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Long story, but I've got a Cat C Fiesta which at one point in time had no windows.

The seats are now going mouldy, and I'd like to do something about it sooner rather than later.

What's the best way of attack? I have thought about hiring a carpet cleaner?

Or do I use some mould killer spray (without bleach) and soapy water?

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Matt

Mould would need killing off in my opinion buddy. So I'd use an all purpose cleaner with anti bacterial properties. Hope this helps buddy.

I'd just wipe them over with a damp cloth to get the thick of it off then wet vac them clean.

A Hoover and wipe over will get rid of it and dout it will come back unless it's left parked up or in storage.

Being a mechanic I've seen it a million times, steering wheels which look like they have a green fur cover on but it's just mouldy.

It will need some anti bacterial spray and wipe or it may return

I successfully used some Anti-bacterial Kitchen surface spray on some seats for a client in the summer that had mildew/mould on them

Dried them really well afterwards and its not come back

They came up like new too

I agree with the comments about needing to kill the mould. Also, I forgot to mention the seats were dirty also (before the mould).

The trouble is that at the moment the car is SORN'd so isn't being used. I have no quarms about the idea of taking the seats and carpets out to clean them either.

So my current thoughts are that I could remove the seats/carpet, wet vac them, use some anti bacterial spray and then dry them (probably in the house).

Sounds good Matt

Excellent, I'll have a go at that then.

Thanks for all the advice :)
