BMW M2 - The M-pire Strikes Back

Featured Replies

Poor Judd Trump got his last week... except he had to leave it at the dealers, as he is playing up in Sheffield in the snooker. It is loaded and even has a sillier exhaust than standard. life can be so hard to some people :D

If he doesn't improve his performance today he will be returning to the West Country to have some New M2 time. No doubt make some enhanced noise !

  • Interested? Yes.   Can I afford one? Heck no! :p   It looks like a cracker, but I personally don't see it being a major success. I think potential customers may either:   Stump up more for an M4

Like the colour, more so than the blue that the press have used and reviewed.

I'll need to see both in proper natural light, on-street before I can make proper judgement.

I just can't seem to get that excited about the M2. I'd much rather have a M3. Soooo much more car for the money. Proper seats for a start! The M3/M4 with huge £10k discounts now freely available are much cheaper on PCP than the M2.

I suspect it'll be bought by people who want a performance BMW and/or don't want a Ford.

Wardy,

Are suggesting badge snobbery exists ?!

Yes.

The Ford will be better value for money in a sense than the M2 but not everyone wants what it offers. They are quite different cars. If you want to go very fast as cheaply as possible the RS is a good choice. The reactively nasty cheapo interior of the Ford won't matter to a lot of buyers but others will be put off and prefer a premium German Brand. Horses for courses and all that lol ;-)

M2 is a lovely car....Focus RS is an awful lot of quick car for the money but it's still a Focus and without question won't feel as premium/special...to be honest I'd still rather a M135/235i over an R'S for that very reason.

£45k is an awful lot of money for a 2 series though.....especially when you think an M3 of E46 vintage retailed for v similar money way back when. That an M3/4 will cost 60ish K IMHO is crazy but such is the world we live in.

Follow up to collecting video - Pick-up.

Big boys(?) toy!

So I wonder where the M2 sits in relation to this Top gear listing / review. Noting the FocusRS is 5star in the Autocar comparison review with the M2 allocated 4 1/2 stars .(whatever that means)

Note! TG excluded the Audi RS3.

£45k base price tag justified for exclusivity?

First LLB (Long Beach Blue) I've seen in the flesh, up at Bowker Preston this morning.

Not ideal weather conditions, but it beats Mineral Grey for me.... when you've seen both 'in the flesh'.

More detail visible and the lines and details, such as around the front bumper air intakes make far more of an impression compared with the Grey. As ever it's horses for courses, and that's why there are 4 colours on offer - to hopefully keep everyone happy :)

Autoexpress does a dry track comparison between M2 v Focus RS.

M2 v A45 AMG drag in the dry, close call.

Unfortunately no mention of tyre spec used, presume Michelin Cup Sport.....

Give me strength

I just realised not only are you posting links to sites that 90% of us have already visited, but you post the same links in more than one thread!

For Christ sake Keith. Pack it in.
