2017 could be your year for one :D

I'll be in year 3 of my PCP on the M135 in 2017 :) Who knows. If I have a good year this year leading into next and I have a following tail wind :) Mind you there are so many good cars out there these days, the new Focus seems tremendous (can't get over the looks though :( ) and there might be a 400bhp RS 3 Saloon (probably still understeer heavily though?). Conversely I could just keep the Vitara, run it into the ground over the next 10 years and retire early :D

  • An M2 and a toy boy. I like       If we were drooling over a fast Ford, would that make me a Ford 'Cougar'?             Coat on and already out the door

  • Interested? Yes.   Can I afford one? Heck no! :p   It looks like a cracker, but I personally don't see it being a major success. I think potential customers may either:   Stump up more for an M4

  • Some images from tinterweb                       Similar to the M135/235 except for bits of carbon, DCT wand and nicer paddle shifts             Seats look like standa

If used prices are anything like the 1M they will be 100% of the original price or more!

Don't worry about posting the prices though, I have a computer box and can find them via the magic of the digiwwebnetfibre thanks

A reasonably interesting head to head track battle. Not so much for the overall result, but the fact that the winning car seemed to be driven in a really untidy way (even if it looked great fun)

it might have been even more fun if it was damp

Think the walls might have re-fashioned the body panels somewhat !

I assumed the driver was an experienced 'test driver/racer' and not someone like myself :D

I'll be watching used prices with interest once it comes out but unfortunately can only see them going up at first. The more I read about it the more I want one.

I doubt they'll come down either. The 1M still goes for what it cost 5 years ago (sometimes more :( )

1m was hugely limited in numbers hence the high resale values

You try and get a hold of the M2 :( There might be more made, but they've still limited the numbers. Mind you they are really expensive once you put a few option on them. Starts to tread on the M3/4's toes (especially with the discounts available).

It's more that the M2 numbers will be limited by production methods, and bringing those shells to the separate M production facility. It's not, in technical terms, a 'limited edition' model.

I see the 1M in completely different terms, more of a side project to see what was possible, with that 1-Series generation. And it happened to be received very well, looked great and the sign-off was for a pretty small production run. All that equals an excellent, if not perhaps quite surprising sales success and 2nd hand values hardening as a result of all of those factors.

The line-up is also different now; you have the very talented M135/235 available, whereas before with the 1M the only alternative was the 130i which had a lovely engine of course, but I'd see more as a 'GT' offering then hot hatch.

BMW says it will make enough cars to meet demand, but several dealers are quoted limited numbers of builds :( Still in a couple of years I'll be ready to change my M135 and coming to the end of my mid life crisis. Assuming I don't manage to marry George Clooney, then I might have a last gasp at being irresponsible and see if I can bag an M2 (funds permitting of course :D)

You know the game - they'll always artificially restrict numbers in the early days anyway. But I think there is an initial hurdle to get over, around productions line and processes.

For the UK dealer side of things, only time and 2017 will tell :)

Hmmmm 2017. I can VT then. Now it only the Chancellor hadn't just stuffed me for a few grand more tax... :(

Then again, you might become enticed by an M4.... :D

Nigel at Stockport Williams sent me an email saying M2 waiting lists are 12+ months. 2018 would be good timing for me to swap my car though, so perhaps I need to start saving for my deposit :D

Surely large deposit not required as any dealership receiving a car even built to buyers spec can easily sell to another customer. supply and demand and all that jazz.

  • Author

I need a deposit that is flexible to meet my needs when I negotiate the terms of the finance deal that I no doubt will take out. I obviously don't buy cars in the same way that you do

Sorry I thought you meant a order deposit. You lease do you not, or is this a keeper you are looking at? Not much equity on the current BMW come another 18 months probably.
