Where to buy a vRS from?

Featured Replies

I have been looking out for a vRS for a few weeks now as I might have a buyer for the Lotus Elise.

Anyway, there are still a few cars still on my list, one being a Golf GT TDI PD150.

Now the question is where do I buy one. Obvious idea is the Local stealer, but I would prefer a car with a few tasty mods included, such as a custom re-map and the dealers seem to have just standard models in stock.

The classifieds section here only has 4 or 5 threads, surely there are plenty of cars out there for sale that have been tweaked......?

TIA - Paul

Don't ask me why, but try the wanted section - loads of cars for sale in there!

You can always mod it yourself, that way you get to choose what you want done!

Where abouts in the NE are you? When I was looking the dealer in Newcastle had pre-reg ones for £11,500 with delivery milage

Hi Chowey

I'm in South Shields. I must get round to having a look at a vRS ASAP but i'm working like a loony at present so aint got the time. I know i could mod one myself, the cost for the basics like a PD160 intake and filter are not great, but a CC remap is circa

I've recently gone from Elise -> vRS too!

Now thats grabbed my attention! How do you find the vRS then? I don't want you to compare it with your 'Liz, you can't compare the 'Liz to anything other than a VX (and even then its got a different engine)

Did you frive the Elise day-2-day or just as a fun toy?

TIA - Paul

Hi Paul

I recognise your username from SELOC now.

I bought the Elise (120bhp S1) as an everyday car to replace my Mk4 Golf V6 4Motion. I'd always wanted to buy one when I was 25 (insurance).

After a couple of months, I ended up buying a Citroen ZX as a runaround. I hated leaving the Lotus anywhere and couldn't bear to put miles on it for long work journeys down the M4 and so it became more of a toy. In the end I got fed up of paying for 2 cars and sold both to buy something a bit more sensible and save some money.

Enter the vRS. Well.. after 3 months and 5000 miles I can't fault it. Everything you read about them is true!

Depending why you want I get about 52mpg (indicated) from each tank, and could get 60 mpg all day, have halved my fuel and insurance costs and hundreds on servicing (Elise had a C service due!).

I test drove a PD150 Golf for comparison when I was looking at my 4Motion. I have to say, I would have been after a Anniversary GTI PD150 this time around, if it wasn't for the fact I like a change (plus I wanted a v. low mileage car). Oh and the Golf interior is nicer, have a look at www.uk-mkivs.net if you want a Mk4 Golf resource.

Having said that, I have no plans to change the Fabia for the forseeable future!

Which Elise do/did you have?

Cheers,

Jon

That sounds a bit like me to be honest, but I already had a company car so the Elise was always going to be a fun toy and not a day to day run-around. I have changed my job roles recently so I had to give the company car back hence the Elise was thrust into being my daily car
