Help replace Puddle Light LED Bulbs 2010 octavia Elegance

Featured Replies

Hi

I have saw lots of viedos / photos on how to replace them (But they dont show the actual bulb).  I cant find a photo or details of the LED bulbs i need to buy.

All i know is they need to be canbus. Are they screw in / 2 pin etc.

Can someone point me in the right direction. I didnt want to drive around with my mirror off while i waited for them to be delivered,

Many Thanks

The standard bulb should just be a push in W5W/501 halogen, there isn't much of a reflector (just some metal) in the stock housing so a double sided would probably be better than a 360 degree style.

It should be simple enough to get to, remove the mirror and then pull out the rubber bulb holder. It shouldn't be more than a 5 minute job to remove the mirror to check and refit the mirror. Certainly no need to drive around with a mirror missing!

I wouldn't worry about 'canbus friendly' LEDs as it won't show a bulb out warning for puddle lights :)

Thanks guys

Any links to the better bulbs ? :)

Just find some nice bright W5W's ;)

Over on Facebook, Ryan McRae has some that are like daylight as sidelights on his Furby.

CANBus: "Friendly" ones are not required per se as they won't throw up a bulb warning on the dashboard, however, they will throw up an error for VCDS to see.

I've got non-canbus W5W LEDs in the puddle lights of both the 54 and 08 plate Octys, and also the red/white lights in the bottom of the door cards are non-canbus LEDs too, , and neither car shows any VCDS errors or bulb out warnings. The puddle lights aren't controlled by the canbus, same as thr interior lights and boot lights.

My 07 and 57 will give an error along the lines of "external door illumination" failure, but the LEDS work just fine. I assumed an error is logged so when you take the car to the dealer it would be something else to get fleeced on ;) ;)
