Yeti with side lights & day light running lights both on?

Featured Replies

Thats were things are 'lost in translation',  if it is a 'Fog Light'  even 1 not 2, then you know what the Highway Code says about Fog Lights.

Now if it is an 'Additional Light' then thats it acting like a Cornering Light.'

But basically where and when did it really become OK to Use 1 Fog LIght, but you would not use 2 in the same location.

Or you might use 2 by selecting reverse.

There is the Grey area, so legal, or just accepted, is it really, or just by those that do not care, or never give it a thought what lights

they display when un-necessary.

But I have to say, despite complaints to the contrary, that I don't tend to get dazzled by cars driving towards me with their fogs on, even when I'm in cars lower than the Yeti. Why should they dazzle given as fog lights they are designed to illuminate the road just in front of the car?

I too am rarely dazzled by the latest craze to drive everywhere with front fog lights on.

The exception though is when the road surface is shiny and wet. As fog lights shine low and short they seem to reflect very well off the road surface.

I get more annoyed by the people who think that putting their fog lights on justifies them not replacing the failed headlight bulb.

Seems to be happening more this winter than usual...

Or those who don't seem to know their vehicle has lights, and drive in the rain and gloomy conditions with no lights on.

Or those who don't seem to know their vehicle has lights, and drive in the rain and gloomy conditions with no lights on.

As more & more cars have auto wipers, auto lights etc, drivers are becoming less an less aware of their surroundings and the whole principle that these are an aid to driving, they do not replace the need for the driver to be in control.

Auto lights are great, but they don't put headlights on in poor visibility (rain/snow/spray etc) in daylight.

We've had this discussion on here before, but the other drivers who need a reality check are those who turn on only their side lights when visibility is reduced. Great, the rear lights are now on, but side lights are really only parking lights and are useless in poor visibility on a motorway. How many DRL fitted Yetis have you seen driving about on sidelights only? Doh!

I'm using auto lights in the Yeti more than any other car I've owned.

But completely agree, there are times when you have to take control and responsibility and operate manually.

I've found that with the Yeti the light's sensor is quite sensitive and the lights do come on when it starts to get gloomy and when it is raining - I do look down (not ideal) at the switch to check that the lights are on though!

On the contrary the lights also come on when I don't consider them to be required and so I turn them off even though many other vehicles still have them on, probably on auto!

Two days ago I saw a white 2012 2wd Yeti (think it was SE) that had is side lights and daylight running lights on. It looked good as far as I can see on mine my daylight running lights turn off when I switch my side or head lights on?

Is there a way to configure this I looked through the maxi dot and could only find and option to turn them off ? Or was I mistaking his dlr lights for his fog lights and side lights ?

To clarify, it is possible to have DRL and sidelights on together with PQ35 based cars (which I believe a 2012 Yeti is) as I've done it on my Octavia.

Both are controlled by the DRL setting of the maxidot and the sidelights remain on if the sidelight or dipped beams are on.

You'll need VCP or ODIS-e to set it up as VCDS can't edit the configuration.
