4x4 superb in the snow

Featured Replies

Good find ! Interesting.... It's a 280 as well.... Wonder if he had winter tyres... Guys a bit of a nutter though ! Launch control on that road !!!

That must have been som kind of wintertyres, he wouldnt have gotten anywhere on that iced intersection on summers.

Cassiopeia black wheels, so I presume the car it's fitted with winter tyres. In the german Skoda forum Cassipeia are usually the first choice for winter tyres.

Definitely winter tyres. I doubt he would dare to attempt that on summer thread :)

First snow came were i live today and took the car on some un plowed roads and I have to say that it handles really well with 2 wheel drive as well :)

Can anybody translate what they think overall about the 4x4 system?

Some people say that the Haldex 5 isn't as good as the previous, that it doesn't react as fast.

I really dont have anything to compare it with, as my Octy (witg Haldex 5) is my first 4x4 car (and my friends landscruiser is in an another league).

But Im really pleased with it. Snow and ice is no problem. I drive straight up hills I could dream about getting up with my Mondeo. I have not once had to pick up speed before climbing a steep incline.

Turn the esp to sport and floor it, and rear comes out sidesways if you want it. It reacts quite fast.

Well, the Haldex works without snow as well.

This is meant to be very slippery conditions, to illustrate the benefits of having positive aid from the rear wheels as well. In more "real" driving situations:
