footwell wet

Featured Replies

Front passenger footwell is wet. Car been parked up for few days now. But the front passenger footwell is wetttt. Any ideas where the water is coming in from. Please help

Sorry but i cant help myself.

I think the water fell from the sky in the form of rain.

Others can maybe help with how it got in the door seals.

Nah you dont sayy. I meant like could it be the door seals or something blocked. First time this has happed

Door carrier, mine was leaking as well.

Open the door when it's been raining and check where the door card touches the door at the very bottom and see if water is dripping down.

If it is that, whats the best opition for it

I sealed over mine with plumbers gold, it's fixed 3 out of 4 of my leaking doors so far!

So take the door cards off and seal all the old seals up?

I've had the same on my old Fabia. Could be the door seals, but also check the stuttle drain near the ECU at the back of the engine bay. Mine was full of stuff at the bottom of it and drained a lot of water away. It's a quick and easy thing to try before trying the seals.

However I could hear water sloshing about in the dashboard sort of area with some water coming into the passenger footwell.

Post from http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/223886-scuttle-drain-holes/ helped me back then.

Plenty of help with leaking door cards on this site..rear especially, but same format to fix.

Simply put,   remove outer door-cards where the door arm-rest and switches are etc.

The door-card itself probably will be attached to the door itself with rivets, some have 10mm bolts.

Clean-out old original sealer (without removing the door-card itself) between the card and the door.

Reseal when thoroughly dried-out, with good sealing mastic.

These models are prone for leaking door-cards, very few escape the problem.

If you bought new cards with the foam-type attached, it will be a matter of time before they will begin to leak.

I had the same problem this week with my 2002 fabia. If you take the door panels off you can see there is a panel bolted on to the door and there is a seal on there which leaks. I went around mine with a tub of silicone and it worked perfectly and now my carpets are lovely and dry. I also had to do the rear passenger side door as well.

Okay thanks. I ll try that 2mrow

Done mine yesterday. Really easy job! Once done i sat car in the garage with an oil radiator on the back seats the help cure.

Dont forget spare clips for the doorcards. £4 for 10 and well worth it as the plastic is brittle as f**k!!

the dorr clips can be bought off eBay with the rubber washers for around £2.50 for 10 - even cleaper if you get the knock off ones but I guess the plastic isn't that good.

I couldn't find any for that price , be sure not to buy the mk2 clips, which are a lot shorter and wider than both the original and the hole in the door panel.

Unless I'm doing completely wrong. 516053f5e8d97951f34049a98b3927ad.jpg.

The original on the right, compared to the new ones I bought at the dealers a while ago. Thought everything was going well until I came to secure the door card back on!
