New Octavia Bluetooth connectivity

Featured Replies

Hi all. Took delivery of my new Octavia yesterday and set up works phone (moto G) on it fine via Bluetooth. My personal phone (Samsung galaxy S5) connects fine but will not sync contacts but the moto G works great. I have tried it with just the Samsung connected but it keeps telling me it cannot find contacts. Otherwise all is working fine.

Any ideas out there?

Not something stupid with the Samsung phone is it like your contacts are in some other aaplication?  Mine were in Lotus Notes (Email program) although visible and usable from the phone contacts.  Also, when you paired the S5 there should have been a message pop up allow access to contacts or something like that from memory.  SO maybe unpair and repair and see if you can allow all options etc.

Phone contacts need to be saved on the sim card not on the phone or somewhere else.

Failing that try the Bluetooth Phonebook app.

That's not true. My contacts are on the phone synced using 9Mail and never had a problem with the syncing.

With my work S5 I remember it popped up a box and asked for access to the contacts. There was a tick box for always remember. Delete the pairing and try again

Depending on the infotainment unit could be the other way around... using the bolero (well the base unit shown) suggests that SIM contacts won't work from the S5 - but best for OP to check the VIN here... (find the phone make and model and it will expand into all functions available)..

+1 there is a pop up on the Samsung that asks you to 'allow' access to your contacts and then to your call history etc, there is also a checkbox to confirm 'do not ask again'

Check if you have contacts coming from multiple accounts. You need to first create a custom view in your contacts app of just the true phonebook contacts, excluding all the social app contacts like Fb, WhatsApp etc.

Mine is set to custom too

I've tried and tried but won't sync my s5 contacts. Reads texts ok and calls are fine. Works perfectly with my works moto g and able to add favourites

I have deleted the s5 pairing, rebooted my phone... Only thing I can think of is that my s5 is set up differently to my moto g...

Frustrating

Go into the Bluetooth pairing screen on the Bolero radio and check the settings for the s5, check its allowed to do everything the Moto G is.

With my Samsung, I find it only syncs my Hotmail (Microsoft Exchange) contacts, not my Google ones. When you set up a new contact on my Samsung you can choose where its saved, device, sim or hotmail, google etc.

Also there is a limit to the number of contacts the Bolero can sync, think its 2000 for each phone.

The Bolero says there are 50 odd contacts synced but when I try to add a favourite it says there are none and asks to re sync... I have multiple accounts, gmail and samsung... I have some device only ones too and even tried creating a new one device only too but still no joy

Both phone setup on the Bolero are the same apart from mailbox numbers which work on both phones (O2 on Moto and EE on S5) and I certainly dont have more than 2000 on either device!!!

I'd delete both phone pairings and start again. Make usre you allow all the pop ups on the Samsung and tick the box to always allow or whatever it says.

Worst case book an appointment with your dealer, car is under warranty, they have to give you help with this.

My S5 works fine, contacts load up with no issues including pictures should you want them!
