2014 vrs tsi oil help?

Featured Replies

Was wondering if this oil is OK for use in my 14 tsi? Only as a top up if required I've read in the book that variable servicing requires the long life 504/507.00 specs but if I'm on fixed 10,000 miles / 12 months servicing the lower 502.00 spec is OK? What do people think? I've put my regards plate into several top brand websites and they always bring up the higher more expensive spec 504.00. She'll does not list this oil as OK for my vehicle however it carrys the 502.00 spec as required for my vehicle??? Can anyone help?

Is she using oil then?

I guess it would be fine for a drop or two in an emergency.

Did you receive a free bottle when you bought the car? If you did, I would stick with whatever that was.

No I've not had to top it up as yet, and no I never got a bottle either! But there's so many specs of oil out there now I just no idea I'd have thought it was fine as it meets the spec but for some reason Shell don't think so! Well why would it specify that spec if it was no good?

They only use the long life oil at the dealers doesn't matter if it's a fixed or variable service so it's the 504/507 spec

Really? Well that's interesting, I shall find some 504/07 stuff then! Does anyone know what oil the manufacturer uses as it doesn't say in my service receipt?

I get a 6 month call to have car checked and topped up free. Have always been told to call if any fluid levels drop. Middle of last year the coolant warning came on. Called in, they sorted it.

Think in the manual it says if long life oil is used as I believe is the case out of the factory. It can be topped up on a one off case with the lower grade.

If you only want it as a top-up you can buy it direct from Skoda. (might be a €1 or so more but is saves the hassle checking prices).

Manufacturers used to use their own branded oil (quite probably produced anyway by Castrol or Esso).

However, many now seem to have a "Skoda Recommends" agreement with a major provider (in this case I think Skoda/VAG has a partnership with Castrol for their oil.)

So I guess they will sell you a 1L or 5L bottle of Castrol Edge Professional Longlife oil.

Just thought I'd leave feedback on this topic! I called my dealer today and they tell me they use Havoline 5w30 504.00/507.00 for all services!

When is it due for service?

Or ask your dealership?

Check eBay for QUANTUM LONGLIFE 3 you'll get it cheaper than the havoline stuff from ECP
