What tools Do I need to remove bat and where are the bolts I need to undo it cheers ?

You will need a 10mm wrench.

And a 13mm socket on a long extension to unbolt the battery from its carrier - this is low down on the front of the battery, plus probably a long thin screwdriver to unclip the plastic battery cover.

I've always used only a 10mm socket .. and I'm kind of good at this sport .. since I have a 1amp something slowly killing my battery lol.

You must be missing the clamp that holds the front edge of the battery?

Items 7/8 here.

Mine does't have one..

I think it should have. A battery is heavy, so will carry a dangerous amount of momentum in a crash situation, becoming a projectile, unless secured well to the car.

Uhm I guess mine had a weight reduction in the past. :)

Is it stable and secure? I'm told that an unsecure battery can be a fine-able offence. I could have been told nonsense.

To the OP - you'll need an extension section as posters have mentioned above, to get to the hard to reach retaining clip.

I don't think mine has anything holding it down either I just wiggled it out. it did however have a lip in the bottom of the battery tray holding it somewhat securely

MOT fail if spotted. However the cover tray would prevent getting onto the battery to check it.

Clamp and clamp bolt visible outside box though, absence would=insecure mounting I'd've thought.

You can't really see them on a vRS as the battery is quite far forward.

Ah, fair enough.

I'd have thought a shake of battery would show that. But then again, I've had an MOT tester tell me that I had a corroded heat shield on rear box on exhaust. Couple of years later, (different tester, and no exhaust advisories), had problems with low piece of exhaust . Thinking new box needed I headed to exhaust place, for the exhaust man( looked quite fresh :D ) to tell me that VAG use double skinned exhaust boxes. Soe times I wonder if MOT blokes look at cars through £ tinted (safety)specs.

If you have the full battery cover you can't see it to shake it. The cover/tray will be secure as it has its own retaining bolts.

The battery tray clamp was missing off mine when I got the car. I made one out of a piece of scrap steel. Don't like the battery not being secured.
