Boost gauge needle flutter?

Featured Replies

So I've just hooked up my boost gauge today and the needle flutter / vibration is doing my head in already...

It's just a straight pipe from egr delete to the boost gauge...

Do I need an inline filter to stop the fluttering?

Reading up online some people were saying if the boost gauge wasn't supplied with a filter then it doesn't need one? Not sure this is my case.

Thanks in advance,

Jamie.

Yeah you need a filter, pretty sure it's cause it's a dirty derv and summat to do with intake pulses :)

doesn't need a filter just something to snub down the speed of change in Vac/pressure   even a snug fitting screw with the head off will do    it's amazing how fast those  pressure waves travel

What about kinking the pipe slightly or somthing, would that fix it?

Ok it doesn't NEED to be a filter as such, but a filter is a better job than a screw with no head, what a bodge.

Take your pick :)

I'll take the screw, I have hundreds and it's quicker and cheaper than waiting for a filter (what's it filtering anyway?)    or you could heat end stretch the tube to reduce it's diam' if it's not silicone

If your happy to bodge it so be it,crack on :)

Got an inline filter from a local motor factors for £1.50, this was the smallest one they had...

Will get it fitted tomorrow and see if the fluttering of the needle has stopped!

That looks a little on the big side! Go into a model shop and ask for an inline nitro car fuel filter, that'll do the job and are very small too.

Superior filtering qualities for extra bhp!  :notme:
