Skoda standard vrs turbo

Featured Replies

Hi gents, following on from my last post the mechanic has found the turbo has seized solid so I'm looking for a turbo for a 2004 Fabia VRS. If anyone has one that they have took off to upgrade I would be interested in buying it.

Thanks in advance

Barry

Yeah I have a standard turbo taken off at 90k with no play in the shaft that you can have.

£130 including postage.

PM me if interested.

What you doing with the old unit. If your scrapping it then I'll have it.

Thanks for the offers gents but just bought one off ebay, if it doesn't cure it I will be selling the car as it is.

It will cure it, assuming you've bought a good one. Make sure you replace the oil feed pipe, lubrication starvation is almost certainly what killed it in the first place.

Barry I'm only in Prescot so if you want any logs carrying to check how its boosting PM me.

Thanks for the offer, to be honest it is a strange failure as turbo has seized and car won't run unless the rocker cover is off so it can breathe, mechanic says it is breathing loads but no gases or very little gas can pass and when it run all sounds ok, hoping a turbo change cures it but if not might not be financially viable to repair it. As I said in my other post car made a popping sound and stopped dead, bit of oil in inter cooler pipe but no bits. Well here's hoping a turbo change is all it needs.

This is exactly what happened to me 2 weeks before Xmas and is 100% the turbo. The ceasing doesn't allow gases to escape.

However due to the pain of the whole scenario.. I would think very carefully about a quick cheap as chips fix.

This is a major component of the car that spins at breakneck speeds throughout it's lifetime. So if anything buying from a reputable company and changing oil gaskets and feeds are an absolute must.

In my honest opinion anything less and you are rolling a dodgy dice and putting your hope in a x year old piece of equipment that has done nearly 100k miles.

I personally go to work on the train now, so rather then by a brand new unit, bought a reconditioned turbo with a 2 year guarantee from Leeds company turbo clinic, who even spoke to my mechanic to ensure fitting was correct etc.. and where very transparent throughout.

So although it's always a risk there is definitely a different mindset I would adopt with this one for sure

Well turbo fitted today and all is well again with our fabia, that is apart from the bloody coil light flashing now, brake lights are all working so I guess I'll have to change the switch yet again. Thanks to everyone for there input in to helping me sort this out.
