Yeti vs Octavia scout

Featured Replies

Hi guys newbie here. Looking at replacing our 2001 Octavia estate with something newer. The 4wd and extra ground clearance would be a major bonus so choosing between a scout and a yeti. Now with a 4 month old baby we find our Octavia a bitsmall inside with front legroom when you have the baby seat in the back also our pram films the boot as it will only lay flat on the floor. Apparently the mk2 has more room? And how do they compare to a yeti. Octavia looks longer but does the higher seating position of a yeti give you more usable space? Trying to find one of each at same garage to compare but scouts are rare!

Thanks Alex

Same Golf mk5/6 floor pan for both the yeti and Octy mk2 and both have similar room in the seating area. Octy has larger boot space but the yeti has more ground clearance. Depending on how necessary the ground clearance is you could look for non Scout Octy 4x4's (Slightly less ground clearance than scout but more than normal octy) or a 4x4 superb which will give more space in the cabin than the octy or yeti but less ground clearance.

Cheers didnt know a standard 4x4 has a higher ride height. I've found a nearby garage with a 2wd yeti and a normal Octavia so going to check them out for size before hunting down 4x4 versions

Below is taken from the Octavia estate brochure - The key is the rough road package, which I think most 4x4's in the UK were sold with:

Clearance (mm)* 140/164** [138/163**]

* At kerb weight.         ** Applies to vehicles with Rough Road Package.

[ ] Applies to Octavia Combi 4x4.

and for the Scout:

Clearance (mm)*** 180

*** At kerb weight.

I believe the main difference between the 4x4 with rough road (163mm) and the Scout (180mm) is the difference between the 205/55/16 tyre/wheel combination on the 4x4 and the 225/50/17 tyre/wheel combination on the Scout
