Hi all i was hoping you could help me and clarify some things for me. 

 

I have a 2006 octavia elegance and recently purchased a rns 315 + amundsen to swap with my stream radio.

 

I realize now that i will need to change the CAN BUS to a later version to prevent battery loss.

 

 

im guessing it will be located behind the glove box and if i purchase one that has been pre programmed then it will be more or less plug and play? 

 

any help advise or direction to what i need to buy would be greatly appreciated. MANY THANKS! 

 

More than likely it will be behind the glove box on a 2006 car, if you're unlucky it will be up above the fusebox and the best way is to take the wipers and scuttle off, then go in through the panel beneath (but you probably won't have to).

 

If you can a pre-programmed CAN gateway, then it will be plug and play but they are easy to code if you have a friendly helper with VCDS.

If you've got Maxidot the RNS315 will NOT communicate with it and you will have no audio or nav menu. If you don't have Maxidot then you've got nothing to worry about.

If you're buying an Amundsen+ with DAB, you'll need some sort of DAB aerial.
