any pics?[/quote']Inside the hard plastic bit that clips to the back of the radiator. They are supposed to prevent water going into the airbox, I think.

Not sure removing them will help - the hole in the side of the airbox (at the other end of the pipe) is the same size whichever intake pipe you use. You may increase the air pressure and turbulence inside the airbox a little, but that may not be productive.

Yep.. and unless your prepaired to clean/replace your air filter every 1000 miles its not worth it!

its been designed for a in-direct airflow so it doesnt suck in every fly/stone/dirt that hits the front of the car

..but I've done this to mine and can report none of these problems - much less smoke since doing it as well (remapped with green filter)

I did this as soon as I bought my PD160 intake pipe many moons ago.

I have to clean my filter more often, but I think the "ram air" effect at higher speeds is worth it.
