Two Days Of Ownership

Featured Replies

Hi All,

So on Wednesday I was taking the outgoing MK 2 FL vRS down the motorway, just loving the cruising aspect as well as having power on tap. Thoughts of how could this be the last night going thru my head...

Arrived at the dealers on Thursday; the sight of the 8 month old MK 3 White vRS Estate diesel - which I would soon be driving away in - bought a smile to me.

Just getting used to her but this is a different car altogether - the mood lighting is a really nice touch, the cab is well thought out and very nicely laid out, the infotainment system which looks like something you'd use to control the Starship Enterprise  :giggle:

Hoping for some happy years of motoring.

One question - is the 'dance' that the headlights do part of a self leveling routine ? And if so, when would it do this ? Presume when ignition switched on is the one of triggers for it to do (rather than when driving on motorway and me or car deciding that we need light)

I will put up some pics of her when I do the first clean.

Cheers

The lights do the dance as soon as the engine is started regardless of the lights being on, if they are on auto and they come on when you start the car you can see it happen.

What is this mood lighting you talk about. I'm awaiting my first vrs in March but didn't notice it on the car I lokked at at the dealers.

That's the Bi Xenon Jig. It always makes me smile.

Yes, what is this mood lighting? I haven't got mood lighting :(

Its internal low lighting that stays on when the vehicle is moving, perhaps so that passengers may read or do other things where some light is required but not enough to put off the driver.

Enjoy the new car. The headlight scan is the car simply looking for aliens  :D

You only really notice the "mood" lighting if you Put your hand upto the front interior lights at night. Its very subtle, shines on things such as gear stick for example. Also on door opening handles, same as Mk2, but less noticeable.

The Zenon lights move around for bends, different speeds, when it rains etc. Information is either in the handbook, or I googled it when I first got a mk2,Can't remember. same for mk3.

Don't the xenons only corner when in sports mode?

They turn in normal and sport. Its only in Eco they dont turn.
