Limited Options on new vRS !!

Featured Replies

I ordered mine last week, met blue, 18" wheels, comfort pack and elec sunroof. tbh i was a bit miffed about the rear elec windows being extra but at the base price its still alot of car for the money and the price of the comfort pack is not bad considering what the duel climate thingy does. the other options i didn't think were up to much, would have liked the zenons but at that price, nah, maxi dot (even the dealer said whats the point) parking sensors drive me nuts in my current car and i dont think cruise control will help my times at santa pod!!

What does the Comfort Pack consist of ?

  • Lots of pictures on this site may help explain a few things. The dashboard with Maxidot looks the business although i've got used to mine now so it seems less impressive. http://oldpartner.skoda-auto

In 12 years of driving i'vr never hit anything while parking, if i cant park a car i might as well by an accord now. Maxidot is something else to go wrong, especially if you can f*** it up all by yourself, which the odds of me doing are quite high

Comfort pack is really the duel climate control and the elec windows (rear) and center arm rest storage thing chucked in. quite handy for my fags and lighter that always jumped out of the cubby hole in old vrs

Ah hence the reason I didn't hear of it over here, its supposed to be standard spec.

True but for the price of the sensors, one nice tap could cover the bill for them.

OK Skoda customer service were good to their word and rang me back this morning.

They "Think" I can have Sat-Nav, but it will have to have Dual Zone kit and Maxidot - which is no big deal as I already want them. But the guy from Skoda was like "But it's going to cost around £1,800!!!!!"

So fecking what - it's my money, how can they expect to sell better cars with an attitude like that !!

Happily the dealer "Mitchell's" are being a lot more helpfull than that, although they don't have it in writing anywhere as far as they are concerned the options situation is the same as any other model - as the price list shows Skoda list general options first then model specific ones.

Anyway the bottom line is I've placed an order - as per my signature below, they are going to enter it on the system and we'll see what happens --- the next 3 months are going to really drag.........

Might not drag on for three months, I got my estimated delivery date today for my vRS estate in blue of 1/2/06.

Yeah Ross said that sometimes if theres an unsold car about to enter production they swap that cars spec to the ordered spec -- I'll have to wait and see, they'll let me know as soon as they do.

mines being confirmed for the 1st March, could have had it sooner but wanted it on 06 plate (plus i need to save up)

I've seen an 06 plate I'd quite like, but if it comes early Feb I doubt I'd be able to wait :orb_devil

I take it they didn't give you a definite answer on the Multifunction Wheel ?

Whats this Active Headrests, I didn't see it listed anywhere.

Rear Sunblind, I heard about this today (have you seen any pictures of it ?)

Is there 2 types of luggage covers available ? Luggage Cover with Net & Luggage Net Combination. I also seen a load of "Reading Lamps Rear" on the list.

Is it worth getting the front sensors (is it possible to switch them off ?)? I'm definitely getting the rear ones.

No they didn't give me an answer on the wheel - although I've told them I only want it if it remains the three spoke wheel - don't see why they cant if you look at the wheel where the controls would be there does seem to be a seperate cover there(wishfull thinking ??)

Active Headrests guard against whiplash and as I went for the curtain bags thought I may as well have those as well - although I'm not planning on crashing it!!

No haven't seen pictures, presuming similar to A3 -- its a fold up blind that you can drop if you want.

I may live to regret front sensors -- time will tell - although I've opted for maxidot - and I know you can change a few things through that - dont know if sensors are one of them!!

I'm not sure about front sensors, would I really use them and someone mentioned while in traffic they can be a bit annoying. SWMBO has them front and back but theres a switch for the from ones. The rears are a must.

The parking sensors only work when reverse gear is engaged - at least they do on Audi's anyway - I hope to god there not on all the time on the Octavia they'll drive me nuts

Front parking sensors only work when you press a button on the dash to turn them on.

I thought about them but decided against.I only have a problem with the rear of the car which I can't really see at all.

TBH 95% of parking bumps are caused by people reversing their cars into the front of other cars. This is a good reason for rear parking sensors but at the same time on that basis if your car is going to be hit then it's most likely to be hit on the front bumper by someone without sensors reversing into you. If that happens and there's any significant damage then there's a pretty good change you'll be looking at a new bumper and maybe a new set of sensors too. My car is a business lease so I have replace like for like. I just saw the potential replacement costs for something I didn't really need as a worry.

If we assume they are the same as other models then a fully specced Octavia vRS is going to cost over £22' date='000

?[/quote']

:silly: Buy a new golf GTI for that.

Alternatively get a fully specced 1 yr old demo in December next year for £14995:thumbup:

I thought active head restraints were standard fit on most new cars these days? I know 5th Gear criticised the VAG group cars a year or two back when they did some tests and showed the effect not having them had on the crash dummy so maybe that prompted them to stick them on the options list!:rofl:

Chris

sits really high off the ground

I thought it had been lowered quite a bit:confused:

I agree that selling a car at that price with wind up windows is taking the mickey.

The real deal-breaker for me though might be that interior if it looks as truely naff as it does in the pics with no alternative. I need the space of the estate otherwise would go for the A3 or Golf every time. The vRS interior with a mixture of aluminium, random bits of chrome and silly pretentious seats looks like it's designed for the teenage market - very disappointing. Might have to spend a bit more and look at the Passat with the 200bhp engine for a decent grownup interior or a 3 series.

Skoda have just told me they expect them in the showrooms second half of December but not sure exact date. Gawd, that's only a week away and they aren't sure? Are they kidding?

The interior I think(hope) will look a lot better in the flesh so to speak - I've had a good look at the vRS interior 360 view on Skoda's own site(not uk) and it looks ok.

As for them not knowing - unfortunately they are not, my dealer told me that the launch cars dont show on the usual system - he thinks this is to stop dealers trying to pre-sell what are probably going to be fairly good spec cars -- all my dealer knows about his car is that its going to be black !!

I think the silver radio surround and steering wheel inserts cheapen the look of the vRS interior. The standard trim is pretty bland but not as cheap looking. I find the most important aspect of an interior is whether or not I can live with it. I love the OctyII dash and seats. All the controls are in easy reach, you feel safe and it's comfortable. The armrest is a bit annoying and the right hand foot rest sits a bit high but designwise that's all really.

Anyone with Parking Sensors – Do they display on the sterio ? Both models sterios ?

I assume the standard factory alarm is the same for each country, dealer here seems to think it wouldn’t be a CAT1. Theres 2 on the options list CDL Alarm/Remote Control and RC alarm + towing Protection. Any ideas ?

I’v seen 2 types of Sunroof on the options list for the RS a PHO & PHOX, anyone know what the difference might be ?

Anyone know what type of spare wheel comes with the 18’s upgrade ? On the last model the 17’s upgrade came with a spare 17” alloy wheel.

Hi colm

Parking sensors display on the radio for Stream and audience head units.

Have a look here:http://oldpartner.skoda-auto.com/share/mediumsize/OCN10024.jpg

I understand the alarm to be CAT1. There's 1 or 2 buttons on the B pillar. one turns off the interior sensing if you have a dog in the car for example and button 2 disables the towing monitor so you can press it then lock you car before it's towed without the alarm going off one the car is raised. Mine has button 1 only but I assume it turns off towing monitoring too.

No sunroof on mine so not sure about that.

As far as I know it's a full size steel whell that comes as a spare with the 18" option.

if the alarm is Cat1 is there any pointin getting a Clifford ? Clifford without BlackJax for around 500 Euro, factory one is 300 Euro.

Full size 18" spare would be nice :)

I'd much rather they just put a turbo in the L&K and left it at that. Would be a great car. The go-faster stripes and silly seats look way too pretentious in what is, let's face it, a car with fairly run of the mill performance. The seats to me look as if they were designed by the bloke who designs cheapo Marks and Sparks trainers. VW are marketing the Passat with the same engine without all the daffy bits, same with Audi A3/A4, so why not Skoda? Couldn't the Mickey Mouse stuff be just an option for those that like that sort of thing?

The estate is exactly the size I want, smaller then the Passat, reasonable performance and probably reasonable handling, but stuffed by the naff boy-racer interior.
