  • Lots of pictures on this site may help explain a few things. The dashboard with Maxidot looks the business although i've got used to mine now so it seems less impressive. http://oldpartner.skoda-auto

If ya can't stand the heat ....... :D:rofl:

I have GAP insurance included as standard with my lease deal but i'm not sure I strictly need it.

The average Octy is worth 51% of its original value after 3 years. However' date=' it can loose up to 20% in the 1st year. If you think you will have paid 20% off the car after 1 year and 50% after 3 years then GAP insurance may be a waste of time. I probably pay enough that there wouldn't be a difference between an insurance valuation on the car and what I actually owe on the car.

It was a different story on the Nissan Primera I was originally thinking of buying though. It retained less than 35% of its value after 3 years! GAP insurance was essential.[/quote']

well let's just say, my Octy L&K cost £15400 in Nov 2003, last week the Halifax paid out £12100 in settlement for its total loss, so I reckon I did not too badly and Gap would have meant I would not have had to find the remaining £4500 to buy a replacement!

Mitchells sent me an email - they will do 3 year GAP for £295 so I will defo have it.

Did a google on GAP Insurance and there are quite a few companies doing it - just easier to do it with the dealer.,

Any further updates ?

Over here I was told that the spare will be a 16" steel wheel regardless of opting for 18's or not. Seemingly thats the biggest that will fit in spare wheel well (maybe something to check for, for those of you test driving it).

I was told that we can't get Multi-function steering wheel controls on the RS 3 spoke wheel. Seemingly there was a sports pack option on the other models which also couldn't be specced with the controls due to it also being a 3 spoke wheel .

Anyone get any info on Xenons ? ie Bi-Xenons or not !

Btw the standard speakers & sterios on Otavias seems to be fairly good (compared to old car). As a matter of interest any idea what size are the std. speakers on the Mk2 Octy ?

They are only dipped xenons - NOT bi-xenons

I did mention it to the dealers I spoke to but they seem adamant that its not available :(

Now thats a pity :(

On http://www.skoda-auto.ie/newcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=Details&vehicle_id=732238220051122&strSpecs=SSCIRL2002 under standard equipment, exterior it refers to Single ellipsoidal lens Xenon bulb headlights & High pressure headlight cleaners. Maybe its a typo.

I have just sent an email to my dealer asking him to confirm with Skoda UK my order for multifunction wheel and to make sure that it doesnt replace the 3 spoke wheel with a standard wheel.

Which ever size wheels you get in England the spare wheel is 16" and it's a steely..:)
