Passenger Airbags

Featured Replies

My Mk1 Fabia Classic doesn't have airbags for the passenger side in the front. Although this doesn't really matter in many ways as 90% of my driving is my commute alone, I don't like the idea that if I was involved in a collision whilst I had a passenger in, they wouldn't have that protection. I've been in an accident as a front seat passenger myself and was probably saved from serious facial injury by the airbag.

I'm thinking of changing the car anyway this summer and am tempted to swap my estate 1.9SDI for a hatch 1.4TDI or 1.9TDI. Did any Mk1s with these engines have passenger airbags - or at least one in the dashboard?

Cheers!

I belive its down to spec rather than engine.

Classic - doesn't have them

Comfort - should

Elegance - should

Vrs - should

Many things will come into play, the spec isn't set in stone. Depending on model year the Spec changes again. Optional extras as well.

Aye, mine is a 2002 estate Fabia Classic and has a passenger airbag.

Change dash and wireing to airbags then you can have that option

You'd also have to change the airbag ECU since it can't be recoded, frankly it's non-trivial and the OP is better off changing the car.
