Dog bone mount

Featured Replies

Hi all I fitted a red power flex dog bone mount last year. I loved the feel when changing gear .. However I didn't leave it in for long cause I didn't like the vibration on idle and through the pedals at cruising speeds .. So my question is has anyone modified the power flex bush ?? To make it feel less harsh ?? Maybe drill some holes in it ??

Which shore bush did you fit?

There is a different one for petrol and diesel. The diesel one is softer to stop vibrations like you describe.

From your description it sounds like you've fitted the bush designed for petrols.

You should try the vibra-technics one lol.

You could always try and raise the revs on idle via vagcom.

My red PF mount is slightly harsh also but does not bother me ( I have bigger things which contribute to the harshness of my VRS!). Please do not drill holes in it! It will effect the rigidity of the mount and your engine will wobble more than my beer belly! - not make it smoother.

as said, theres about three difernt types now made by different people, some are harsher than others.

I thought the red powerflex one is the diesel one? May well soften up eventually, if you can't put up with it while you wait try another. How many miles have you done on it?

Sorry for the late reply chaps , I fitted a red ( diesel one ) , guess it's covered around 2000 miles .. The idle I can live with really . It was the pedal vibration at 2000rpm on motorway ...

May just put it back on and live with it

You should not have pedal vibration from a poly dogbone mount - might sound silly, but are you 100% sure the bolts for the mount are tightened correctly?

Agreed. I was hard pushed to notice the difference after fitting one myself.

Defiantly all tight ... The vibration is much less with a std mount ... I will put it back on and see how I get on

But were they too tight? Can't remember the settings now, a search should reveal all

Surely it wouldn't vibrate if they were too tight ... Think I just got a Friday afternoon car (if you know what I mean )

If they're tooo tight you take out some of the flex that is necessary for cushioning. They should be torqued correctly anyway at the end of the day.
