help needed - not boosting until 2500/3000 revs

Featured Replies

1.9 tdi pd130

Engine wont boost until it reaches 2500/3000 revs

No fault codes atm

Cant find any boost leaks, carried out the mr muscle job, tried a different vacuum box, tried a different MAF but still the same.

Can anyone point me in the right direction

Actuator rod/vanes and vacuum/n75 effect boost.

Check the vac pipe to the n75 mine had a hole in it, car wouldn't boost until 3k

The easiest way to find it is look for the vac pipe at the airbox. It will be just behind the maf sensor. Then follow it back along the bulkhead to the n75 and check for splits

As dara just said, do a group 11 log on WOT and see what you get. For details on how to do that go to hidden-power.co.uk and there is a guide on there. Could be the VNT is clogged up and sticking

Is it a new turbo or has the problem started suddenly?

If you have access to VCDS, log group 11 to see what N75 is actually doing and what boost looks like. If not, take a look on the map below, it contains members with vcds, I'm sure someone will be happy to help.

Problem has started suddenly. Great thanks! Found someone close by so dropped him a message, hopefully he can help.

Is the vacuum pipe connected to the bottom of actuator?

Is your vacuum system working?remove the big plug with the vacuum pipes on it onto vacuum box and you should hear the vacuum release.

Yeah pipe is connected to actuator. And yep vacuum releases when unplugged.

Have you got access to a vacuum pump to check actuator moves when vacuum applied?

Hoping to purchase one very soon. I was able to move it by sucking the pipe. How much force does it take to move? Thanks

I don't think you'll be able to suck hard enough to move the actuator all the way!!!! :D

But then again perhaps your good at giving a hard suck.......
