Notchy gears now its cold

Featured Replies

I'm having this problem, but also struggle to get into reverse without moving forward slightly in 1st and then putting it into reverse. Car's going in for it's 20k service so going to bring it up, as last time I had this on a previous car it was the gear linkage!

mines got a little notchy going into 2nd ... in fact it graunches sometimes. May 2014 car just under 17k miles

It wasn't like this last winter?

Mine to I am going to ask a different dealer to see if they can suggest something, failing that I am going to go tact skoda uk, I'm not going to hold my breath though. I have been in this situation before that's why I'm reluctant to let them monkey around with it as I am worried they will make it worse.

Had mine with main dealer today as I had a sensor replaced as a fault was displaying saying that the auto adaptive headlights were faulty. Also had the fuel pump replaced as it was hissing at the rear of the car.

While I was there though I mentioned the same problem where the gears crunching going from 1st to 2nd. This was the same with my previous VRS but this is worse.

Technician took It out for drive but said it was fine but I can only assume the box had warmed up by then. Skoda advised to keep monitoring it and bring it back if it persists.

17k miles and 2 years old.

I was going to say "yes" but turns out I'm on octy 3 forum, not fabia 1 which is where I thought I'd read this !

Yes to Fabia, no to Octy 3 I'm afraid, its flawless, and has quite a few miles on it, more than most for a 14 plate I'm sure.

Driven many cars (manufacturers) in the last 25yrs, all without doubt have had similar issues. Owned 3 Octys and it hasn't been an issue. The Car Mags I have read complement the Octy on its slick gearchange! Could have all been tested when the weather was warmer?
