Hi there if you remember from my recentish posts I hadafew issues with exhaust manifold leaking blowing gases straight onto a rocker cover oil leak near my cam belt etc.

After rectifying both issues I thought best to get Mt cam belt done.

As there's no record of it being done

All jobs completed but now I've noticed my fun is using oil fast

Checked the rocker gasket seems fine

Two questions can a Cam belt and waterpump change cause this type of issue.

Are there components nearby that could be damaged

Two what checks should I start with to diagnose problem

Is it worth flushing the engine and doing an oil change. If so best products to use?

I wouldn't as the 1.6 is a pretty sludgy engine and all you will do is loosen it for it to block the oil strainer instead. Just good quality oil of the correct grade.

The breather box does unbolt off the rear of the engine it might be worth removing it and giving it a good soak in parrafin or something if it's blocking up.

What do you mean by 'fast'? Try using oil quantity units of measure over mileage.

What would you call 'normal' oil consumption? Again, use units of measure.

Any chance of cleaning the engine head, block, and oil sump to better assess external leaks?

I had two felicias with AEE engine. Both became oil eaters in a matter of 50kkm from zero to 1L/1000km.

The rings tend to get stuck on the pistons. Saw 3 engines with that problem. At least mine was always running on good quality oil.

 

you can take a look to the breather. Hope you are more lucky than I was with this problem.

I don't own a 1.6 Felicia. I asked because I wanted to know how well you measured the oil consumption and advice you accordingly.

Didn't find any leaks but using a better oil seems to of solved itself

What oil brand / type had been problematic?
