Felicia 1.9 diesel cat

Featured Replies

This has probably been asked before.

My exhaust has split and the exhaust centre have diagnosed it as the rearmost seem on the cat has broken leaving a split betrween this and the rest of the exhaust. They've been unable to source a new cat as it's apparently main dealer only. (Felicia diesel estate)

Does anyone else know where I can get one or is main dealer the only option?

I imagine the price of that would be a bit steep being as it's the cat and it's main dealer, am I right?

I'm thinking of rewelding the cat body if this is the case and wondered if I'd harm the innards if I did this.

If anyone can offer advice on this it would be a great help.

Thanks

weld it up boy  i do without any probs

yep get it welded

all else fails remember its a polo cat .............. skoda just put a badge on them :)

a cats life is about 100,000 max, you near that???

It's about there, 80 ish as I remember but not sure. Have two and it always confuses me.

Near £430 plus vat I've been quoted by the local Skoda dealer...where'd I put that welder?

never i have loads of felicity diesels running around 250,000 mile plus and all on there original cat.

Hey I am.

But if you try Butts of Bawtry they have them miles cheaper than the dealer.

They even do a non genuine one.

Also try the likes of euro car parts.

The part number is 6U0253091HX if that helps.

I killed mine at 70k so I know how it feels when your cat dies :(

I haven't got a price for that exchange part, but a new one used to be (and may still be)

Oddly Butts reckon they don't have one for my car. There's one listed in their catalogue though. Is there something funny about a 97 R reg?

Have found a site www.exhaustshack.co.uk which supplies Bosal systems and they have front pipe and cat for

true but spec says otherwise :(

cat should last the life of the car, weld it, or go to a scrap yard and make the cat up 1.9 polo ask for skoda they'll not have a clue

prob with the gazole is brackets NOT ENOUGH!!!! you got a fiw mod mine is original, ONE effiing rubber bracket just before the rear box! the rest is trying to act as a solid unit ....... flix down. and like you the cat will give.

685€ for last attempt to fix, it wont last i can hear it, it'll soon trash the cat box section.

I was thinking the same. May have a look around to see if there are any mods to steady the front of the exhaust. It's at start up it seems to shake the most - as she fires up the whole car shudders. Settles as soon as it's started. Seems smoother if I don't rest my foot on the accelerator but years of habit are hard to break:O

the was a re-call on them many years ago which involved welding two brackets to the subframe so there is two brackets that hold the front pipe on i'll see if i can get some pics in the next few days.

That would be great. Thanks.

please yes

mine never got the mod

attempts to fix the exhaust just dont work

france never got 95/96 models and never had to do the fix. hence VW found polo part numbers on the exhaust, but its about 3" longer...... they never saw it b4 :(

as i understand an extra set of brackets are needed on the front downpipe, if not the only thing holding the entire thing up is the flexi joint and that then gives out .... so it drops (in my case) kinda swings about and sounds like a tractor.

get the flexi sorted, the vibrations are bad, noise better, but its dead to accelerate and you can really feel the exhaust is not flexing properly.

(ps last posts a bit sloshed, please excuse crud spelling)

sorry about the quality chaps, i took these on my phone the other day hope this helps cheersk.

LOLOLOL

sorry that looks like images froma porn movie LOL

(no perhaps my sick mind)

my down pipe does not have a turn, reason VW said the drive shaft would get in the way even if they could fix it ?

oh no tilted head i see now, yes, its on the underside not the down section!

interesting.

now is that a fix or factory version?

that particular one is a factory one but the fix was exactly the same ie. we had to weld two brackets to the subframe to accomodate the two brackets on the front pipe.
