VW Finance are now not returning my calls. Skoda UK executive office are a joke! Now just waiting on what the financial obnusman have to say.

I'm also driving down up to Leeds to Skoda HQ where I'm going to leave the car and hand the keys over to the MD if I can or next in line.

This should have been sorted out amicably but I've been treated very poorly.

I wouldn't ever touch a VW product.

I'm also very surprised that people who are very active on this forum haven't commented on this situation.

Good luck with your Superbs guys.

I'm off to the Jaguar to buy a proper car! That's British and well made!

End of rant

Don't think that's fair to be honest.... You certainty have a right to be upset and it appears you have been treated poorly.... Many on here however are very pleased with their cars including myself ..

If this issue is indeed down to a faulty N75 Wastegate Valve, then this should be an easy fix, just an external component change, we would all be interested to know if this is the case, I fully understand your frustration, you purchase a new car and expect it to be 100%, but as we all know nothing is perfect.

I ordered a new company Octavia SE Business back in September 2014, two days before delivery, the dealer contacted my transport manager to inform him that during the PDI it was noted that there was an engine management light up, this related to the failure of the Turbocharger, brand new car 4 miles on the clock, dealer had ordered the required seal kit to repair the turbo, transport manager contacted me to ask what I wanted to do, but he advised me to reject the vehicle, which I did, then had to wait another 12 weeks for the replacement car.

The replacement Octavia has been faultless and gave me the confidence to go for the Superb, its just bad luck that you have had issues, have a look on the Jaguar forums you will find that their customers have had issues as well, the law of averages means that there will always be some unit failures, it goes with mass production.

Good luck with whatever you decide to go for.

I think you'll struggle to reject the car for a noise, that isnt really bad. They will just say its a 'characteristic' of the car, and it is a diesel after all.

Skoda haven't dealt with it well, they need to up their game, as you say it's a £30k car.

Not sure I would spend that money on a Skoda, I'd be going to Lexus, Mercedes etc.

Hope it works out.

Dont be too hasty, as VWFS might just get you for breach of contract and register a default on your credit record.

That's true, and as someone else said any mass produced good can and will have issues in a certain percentage. The difference though is how it's dealt with. Škoda certainly seem to have dropped the ball on this one. Hold fire and see what the latest fix brings, OP. You never know it might work. Also definitely get finance on-side first, as it's not your car - it's theirs. You don't want to end up with a default as the guy above said. The finance co are the ones with the clout to get things done.

Tell you what you point me at an equivalent car to my Superb Combi for the price if you can ....

Yep your right, you wont get a combi for 30k.

I listened to your youtube clips, but couldn't hear the noise on my laptop - probably a combination of poor recording quality on a phone and poor playback on crappy laptop speakers.

Have they replaced the N75 yet ?

Should be a simple replacement, I'd let them change that before doing anything else. It it fixes the problem - it's all sorted.

If it doesn't, then you've got more ammunition.

If you paid the initial deposit using a credit card you might be able to claim via that route and let your credit card company argue the toss with VW finance

Firstly it's not just noises. On 3 occasions various pipes have been touching each other creating rattling. The 4th occasion they have found the N75 valve needs replacing.

Agreed not major problems but that fact still remains it's a brandnew car. I don't think I'm being to hasty by asking for a replacement. I believe that the one I have will have more problems in the future.

30k on any car is a lot of money. I would seriously consider spending a few thousand extra and go for a eclass merc estate. I have a friend who has one and it's been a dream. Merc = fantastic customer care.

I'm looking at a jag sport brake now

I rest my case ...

Had a look and you can get a few combis with a good discount. Not as cheap as a Superb combi, but if your spending £30k on a high spec Superb combi, you are getting into Merc, BMW, Jag territory.

None of those are equivalent to my car. I've no interest in derv. 280ps and petrol.... Have another go :-)

And before jumping to other 'prestige' brands a quick check of the JD Power 2014 results might be of interest. I have had poor experiences with both Jag and Merc post sales service in the past so no guarantee of anything better over there. Battles to sort the odd 'odd one' are just as stressful which ever marque you choose to buy and odd ones can appear anywhere.

Take care and I hope you do find a mutually acceptable solution.

Yep granted, your 280ps petrol Superb combi is good value for the spec. You cant get that kind of power and spec for that money elsewhere.

What spec was the OP's car, its a diesel I know and about £30k. I was trying to find a comparison to that.

It's OK GR I was just been pedantic.... I know where you were coming from... Ignore me :-)

Today's Update

Had a call from VW finance. They will accept the car back and are looking into to wether they can refund me all my payments so far.

I think it's only fair I have the payments refunded.

I asked them would they not look at exchanging the vehicle. The answer was no. I was told to go back to the dealer, place another order and place another deposit. Current lead times are 4 months at the best.

So I can continue with this one until a new one arrives but I still have to make full monthly payments.

Or

Give the car back, hope to get my money back and buy something else.

I personally think option 2 is better. I would wait for another car because the car does look good but I can't justify the bad service and I can't bare the thought of dealing with Skoda and VW again.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I'll keep you updated on what I do

Well that's a result then but still a shame. They must think its something major to give in so easily ?

That's at least a step in the right direction. I would imagine VW/Skoda would prefer not to have the negative publicity that this sort of thing can produce. They need all the help they can get at the moment.

I am sure certain people at VW/Skoda HQ trawl these forums and will no doubt pick up on this sort of thing.

It would be a shame not to give the Superb a second go, but I can understand you wanting to bail out completely. I had a big warranty fight with Skoda UK several years ago (BKD cracked cylinder head) and I almost quit the brand completely over it.

The ~4 month wait is frustrating, it's a shame they can't bump you up the list and get one out to you PDQ. That would be a good gesture from Skoda (I hope you are reading this, Skoda UK!).

Best of luck, whichever way you decide to go.

I think that you have two problems here. 1)  These charges are for entry level cars.  For the price of one of these I've bought a 1.4 tsi 150 estate with just about all the options available, a smidge over £25,000, by the time I've added all the equivalent extras for these cars I've passed £32,000 for even the cheapest of them.  2) I'm quite concerned about all the customer service comments I've read on Briskoda which have been posted by people fed up with waiting for their new Superb and have gone to the opposition as prospective purchasers.

SUK, or so I'm informed, screwed up my order on the car that was due to be built on BW 42 I spotted the problem on BW 38 and told my dealer that I would not accept the car on delivery as it was not the car that I had ordered.  We came to an agreement (with the aid of SUK) and a replacement car was ordered as a PRIORITY ORDER lead time 10 weeks.  It can be done and the system exists.  My replacement car should be at the dealers today but I have to wait until tomorrow for confirmation, I'm 300 miles away and my "sales executive" is on his one day off.

Update as of 4pm this evening.

Lloyd from the Skoda UK executive office rang me.

Here's the offer. I can hand the car back and VW will auction the car off hoping to get 24k for it. It has done 11k miles on it. VW will give me back £1500 which was a deposit on the car but will not pay for 4 months payments which is around 2k.

So I've spent 2k on a Skoda that has rattled for 4 months and had now enjoyment what so ever.

I asked them about a replacement vehicle and they simply said we don't do that. They said if you want another Superb, then you have to go back to a dealer and out down a deposit like i did in July last year.

My reaction - well I'm sure you can imagine. It's disgusting from a company as big as the VW group.

All I asked for was for the car to be returned and my payments to date refunded. I don't think that's to much considering what's been going on.

Instead I have no option but to take £1500 and go and buy another car. I always factory order to get a spec I want. No matter what I go for will result in me waiting for a factory ordered car.

They basically left me deep stinking ****!

Will I order another Superb? Absolutely F**king not!

Worst car I've ever had!

The first drive of the superb is great but drive it for 11k miles and you will know what I mean. Besides all the problems with mine, the handling is crap, even in sport mode. The DSG is the worst one I've driven. It's not a smooth as a straight 6. When you brake you can feel ever gear change down. The sensors are crap without a camera. No Usb in the back? The stop start is rubish on this diesel and cuts out to easliy and when is starts its like a tractor. The suspension noise from the rear is a joke.

The only thing going for it in my opinion is the exterior looks and the space in the rear and boot. That's about it.

I know there's big Skoda fans on here and have been for ages but I don't mean to offend you and the above is my opinion. I've never favoured any brand but I've had a Beamer, merc, ford and my last car was a Peugeot 508 which was fantastic and i wish I still had it.

I think I will still wait for the Financial Obnusman have to say but ultimately the car is going and good riddens.

In terms of Skoda UK, I don't actually understand what they do? Unless you pay cash for your car or don't use VW finance then they're useless scum. They haven't offered me a penny in all this but constantly referred me to VW. Consodering is their brand I thought they would like some slight responsibility or goodwill but nothing!!!!!!

Good luck all

I think it would be wrong to give you your £2k back as you have had use of the car during that time and no judge would agree to that £2k as how else would you have got yourself around but at least an acknowledgement would have help with at least an offer of a free service for the trouble caused.

A few posts hidden - Can we keep on topic.
