problems already with new fabvrs

Featured Replies

just picked up my new to me fabia vrs and when i was driving later on in the evening i stuck my foot down at about 90mph and then the car just died. it never stopped but i thought that it had a restrictor on it, or maybe the turbo had died cause it was driving like a normal 1.9d and not a vrs 1.9. i pulled over into services and looked into engine (for what i have no idea) and all looked ok in my opinion. started off and all was back to normal then it died and stayed that way all the way home with the engine management light on. GREAT!! 4 hours old and it drives like my old 1.4. also one and a half of the bloody electric mirrors dont work or light up (moves half way and thats it).

Its going to be embarressing tomorrow when i go to work and show off my new car with the pulling power of an ant.

any ideas guys, calling skoda when they open for sure

hope ypu get it sorted..... fully agree shouldn't put up with receiving a car like that... perhaps some free acessories will make you fell better when you go back in

I had the same problems when I picked my 53 plate vrs from my local skoda dealer. The head salesman had put in half a tank of unleaded in it. Doh !!

Which dealers did you get it from?

I had a very similar problem with my Octavia TDI when I bought it. (3 yrs old).

I found that if you keep the rev's below a certain level, everything is OK, once you go above this level, 'SAFE' mode kicks in and you will loose power. You will then have to stop and turn the ignition off, to reset everything back to normal.

The dealer (not a Skoda dealer) ended up sending it to a Skoda dealer, who put a new turbo on it! It's been fine since.

The original dealer said that they have a lot of problems with VAG TDI's if they have been stood around without being run for more than 2-3 weeks.

They normaly get away with new MAF probes, but have had to fit a number of new turbos to get things going again.

that bothers me... mine currently only gets run once a week! (always a long run though, 100-200 miles) hope it doesn't suffer for it

edit: I'll be caning it on the cat and fiddle at the northwest meet soon ;)

yeah it was an elderly couple apparently that had it before, ( no offence to the elders out there but guessing they dont drive that fast or hard anymore) and they had the car sat on garage for at least a week before i got it. it was from the wjh motors garage in bedford. they were really nice and helpfull when i brought the car and wouldnt let it affect any future purchases from them, today i filled the tank full with `pure` diesal and the engine management light went out and turbo is fine again. going to look a right plank when i take it to garage tomorrow now

p.s whats VAG mean

p.s whats VAG mean

It stands for Volkswagon AG, or more commonly (but incorrectly) Volkswagon Audi Group. AG is German for "company" or something similar...

HTH

Could be an air flow sensor issue, I have bought and sold quite a few sharran/galaxy/alambras over my time that suffered simular syptoms and replacing the air flow sensor cured them all.

seems to be all fine now anyway and not done anything about it. took it to garage and they think it may have been because it was sat for a while but insisted i bring it back if anything should happen again...dont worry mate i will!!!

With the greatest respect to your dealers - ******.

They should be able to retrieve the stored fault code and tell you exactly what happened - not just summise.

:( Oh Dear

You should re-read the posts mate.

'It's new to me'

'it's an 03 plate'

I should imagine it's well run in by now.

Calm down, were not all perfect.

Perfectly calm here.
